After a cagey start to the fight, where Jennings was keeping out of range on the back foot, Miguel Cotto ends up closing the distance and knocking him out in round 5.

Michael Jennings seemed very nervous from the start of the fight, and seemed like he was scared to get into range, maybe he had a feeling he would not be able to handle Cotto's power.

Once the distance was closed Michael Jennings did throw a few punches but didn't do any damage with the few that landed, it was all Cotto, once he landed some shots, it was just too much power for Jennings to handle.

Jennings was floored in the 4th round by a crisp body shot, once up off the canvas, he was layed into again on the ropes, and what many people thought was the end of the fight was actually just the end of the round, although i think the referee was considering stopping the fight there and then. Micheal Jennings was able to continue for round 5, but wasn't fully recovered from the 4th round knock down, which seemed to take everything out of him.

Jennings was trying to keep his distance and get himself together in round 5, but Miguel Cotto could see this, could see his opponent was hurt, and went in for the kill. Some good shots from Cotto to the head of Micheal Jennings and he was down again and unable to continue, the fight was called to a halt. So Cotto claims the vacant world title.

Credit to Micheal Jennings, he gave it his best shot, i think the massive event got to him mentally, also once he felt the power of Cotto, he knew it was just too much. Good win for Cotto.

There is not long to wait now for the Ricky Hatton Vs Paulie Malignaggi fight.

I think this could be a tough fight for Ricky Hatton because of Paulie Malignaggi's style. He has great boxing skills, very slick and very sharp. Those types of fighters have always troubled Ricky Hatton. Hopefully, with Ricky Hatton now teamed up with Floyd Mayweather Senior, he has learnt some new skills and sharpened up more. Ricky Hattons last two performances weren't very good, and he even admits that himself.

But for this fight he has been much more dedicated and really seems up to the job. Floyd Mayweather Senior is without doubt one of the best trainers in the world, but can you teach an old dog like Ricky Hatton new tricks? I think you can if the old dog wants it bad enough, and i think Ricky Hatton Does.

Ricky Hatton Vs Paulie Malignaggi has all the makings for a great fight. Paulie Malignaggi is much tougher then he looks too. He took a good beating from Miguel Cotto, and although he lost that fight, many people had respect for him because he lasted the whole fight and took some seriously hard punches. So we know Paulie Malignaggi can take a beating, and with his slick boxing style, he could be hard work for Ricky Hatton.

No matter which way the fight goes, i think it will be a tough fight for both fighters. Personally I am a Ricky Hatton fan, so i hope he wins, and wins in style. But i must say, i think if Ricky Hatton does lose to Paulie Malignaggi, he will retire.

I hope Ricky Hatton hasn't jinxed himself by talking bad about Paulie Malignaggi,not in this press conference but at an earlier interview. The only other time he has talked bad about another fighter was the match up with Floyd Mayweather Junior, and look what happened then..
