David Haye Vs Chisora Coming Soon

David Haye Vs Chisora Coming Soon

Despite all the attempts by the British Boxing Board Of Control to make the fight not go ahead, it looks like we will be seeing David Haye take on Dereck Chisora this summer. Would there have even been a fight if the scuffle between Haye and Chisora never happened? Absolutely not. Make no mistake, there are a fair few people, not including anyone involved with the BBBC that are frowning upon this fight taking place. But it's true What David Haye said, they may say there disgusted with this fight but they will still be watching it.

Boxing's a fighting sport, sometimes tensions can run high and fights can break out. But it's not like it happens every week. Most boxers are very respectful to their opponents.

In fairness it's easy to see the point of the small percentage of people who think the fight is not a good idea. Because instead of punishing the fighters for their behaviour they are actually being rewarded. Frank Warren and the brawl between Haye and Chisora have managed to build a fight everyone wants to see, and in the process both fighters will make a few million pounds each. What kind of punishment is that? And what kind of example does that set for young people that look up to these fighters.. As if fighting on the street leads to good things..Well in most cases is doesn't. However, you are well within your rights to defend yourself and I encourage anyone to do so if in danger of being seriously hurt.

All that being said, this is a great fight and almost everyone can't wait to see what happens in the coming build up, and in the fight itself. With Chisora's track record of violence outside the ring the pair might not even be able to have the weigh in without there being some sort of divider between them. Just like at the press conference where a fence was put in the middle to make sure nothing kicked off.

It's a great move by Frank Warren making this match up. He knows this fight, because of the controversy, means big audiences. Big audiences equals big money. Both fighters have lost to a Klitschko and the winner between the pair with most probably get a shot at Vitali Klitschko, who is the holder of the WBC Heavyweight Title.

Haye seems to be the favourite to win the fight. He has more experience, more skill, more power, and has mixed with the much better class of opposition. But What Chisora lacks in skill and experience he makes up for with determination and a solid chin. He is a tough guy and if he comes in shape he does have pretty good stamina late in fights. Those quality's can cause an opponent problems when a fight goes into the later rounds.

More to come soon on this fight.

Amir Khan Demands Random Drug Tests

Amir Khan Demands Random Drug Tests

Amir Khan has said that whoever he fights in the future must agree to random drug testing. Boxing has had a few shock findings in this department recently. One of the people caught being Amir Khan's previous opponent Lamont Peterson, so you can see why Khan is now insisting that random drug testing must take place for anyone he fights. The rematch between Khan and Peterson was all set until Peterson tested positive for a banned substance, which was said to be elevated levels of Testosterone. (Synthetic Testosterone)

To make matters worse Lamont Peterson has already admitted that he was taking PED's in some shape or form (Testosterone) when he fought Amir Khan the first time. So It's definitely a step in the right direction. There is so much on the line at the elite level of the sport that even fighters that would never have considered taking performance enhancing drugs may do so because of what's at stake. The pressure to win is immense.

They have worked their whole life up to the point where they are competing in the big money fights and sometimes they can be tempted to give themselves that little extra boost in order to make sure they have trained to the absolute limit and are firing on all cylinders come fight night. However, PED's are the cheaters way, and there is no room for that silliness in boxing. It's about time that more stringent testing was done more often. Peoples lives are on the line.

Junior Dos Santos Vs Cain Velasquez

Junior Dos Santos Vs Cain Velasquez

After both scoring impressive stoppages at UFC 146, Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez might be facing each other next in the octagon. This match up does make sense. Their both elite heavyweights and Dos Santos has beaten Velasquez once already. So Velasquez wants revenge and the title UFC back so it's all to fight for. It should be a good fight, but unless Velasquez can take Dos Santos down Velasquez will get another beat down for sure. Hopefully if the pair do end up facing each other Velasquez won't be silly and have a striking match with Dos Santos for five rounds because if he does he will get stopped. Let's see if the fight gets made.

Who else is there for Dos Santos to fight? Alistair Overeem would give him a good test but he is out for a while. Or maybe newly crowned StrikeForce Champion Daniel Cormier in a unification fight. That would be interesting. With Cormier being a very decorated wrestler perhaps he could be the one to close the distance and take Dos Santos to the ground, nullifying his best weapons in the process, those two sledge hammer fists.

UFC 146 Quick Predictions

UFC 146 Quick Predictions

Another UFC is upon us, and it's got a pretty good card. The one fight that everyone wants to see is the main event between Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir. After scanning the whole card, and then listening to this video I am in full agreement with MMA Digests prediction picks for UFC 146. It should be a great night of fights.

Carl Froch Knocks Out Bute In Round 5

Carl Froch Knocks Out Bute In Round 5

Carl Froch takes Lucian Bute to school and stops him in the 5th round. This was a seriously one sided fight. Bute was completely exposed, he was getting caught with barrages of huge shots far too often. Froch seemed harder to hit then Bute thought he would be. Froch outboxed the superior boxer. Bute's punch resistance wasn't there and it seemed as if every time Froch landed punches Bute was in trouble. Bute was rocked in the 3rd round and it looked like the fight might be over then and there, but Bute did show some heart and did try to fight back. He managed to clear his head, tie up, and get through the round.

After the 3rd round scare for Bute, a knockout win by Froch seemed imminent. Again in the 4th round, Bute was battered all over the ring. Every time Carl Froch opened up with power shots Bute was rocking and rolling all over the place. He just could not handle the sheer power of Carl Froch's punches. In the 5th round Carl's corner must have told him not to let Bute off the hook and just go for it. So he did. Carl Froch let it all hang out and totally smashed a dazed Bute with some very clean, full force punches that rocked Butes head all the way back. The referee had seen enough and called an end to the contest. Carl Froch is the new IBF world champion. There is a rematch clause in the contract so Froch will most probably have to go to Canada for the rematch.

An excellent performance by Carl Froch.

Carl Froch Vs Lucian Bute Weigh-In

Carl Froch Vs Lucian Bute Weigh-In

You know when Carl Froch is having a fight it's going to be action packed. The Ward fight was as an exception. It was still a decent fight and Froch tried to push the action, but Ward was just too good and has such an awkward style to look good against. This fight against Bute has all the ingredients to be a really great battle. I know that people, including Froch himself are saying that Bute hasn't fought anyone and hasn't been tested. But against Carl Froch, who has bags of heart and strength, but has limited hand speed and boxing skill, Bute is by far the more superior boxer. A good advantage for Froch though is that he has good stamina late in fights, where as Bute has tired badly in the past against mediocre opposition compared to Froch.

Bute is a tricky southpaw fighter and if I could pick one word to describe Butes boxing style it would be cute. He has cute boxing skills, he finds the tiny openings in his opponents defence and catches them off guard with fast powerful punches that they weren't expecting. Bute's body shots are fantastic. He is also very good at throwing shots simultaneously, so just as his opponent trys to land a shot he is great a moving and landing effective counter punches. This is what makes Bute so dangerous for a fighter like Froch. Bute has excellent skills and is very big at the weight.

This is a big test for Carl Froch. He has many positives. He is fighting at home, he can take a good punch, and he has the determination to win no matter what it takes. So it should be a great fight. His best chance to win is in the later rounds where Bute does tend to tire. And if Froch's impressive stamina late on comes into play and we see a tired Bute in the second half of the fight, it could reward him with the IBF title on Saturday night. That would make Carl Froch a 3 time World Champion.

Jon Jones Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

Jon Jones Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was arrested on Saturday morning on Suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), after crashing his car. I thought Jon Jones was the golden boy of the UFC. He's a role model for many and seems to do no wrong.

Mikkel Kessler Knocks Out Allan Green

Mikkel Kessler Knocks Out Allan Green

The Kessler Vs Green started fast and furious, both showed good boxing skills and it seemed like the fight would be a close toe to toe boxing match. Green had some very good moments through out the fight and he actually legitimately knocked Kessler down in the first round. Kessler got caught with a hook which rocked him down to his boots. Green followed up on this, landing a nice body shot that sent Kessler to the canvas. But Kessler is tough. And when the going gets tough the tough get fighting. And that's exactly what Kessler did. He rocked Green a few times in the second and third rounds. But Green managed to evade further punishment by using good boxing skills.

However, Green was starting to tire and getting caught with shots more often. In the fourth round Kessler seen an opening and took advantage. Kessler caught green with a perfect left hook that completely hit the "lights out" button on Green. Allan Green was completely knocked out cold. Fight over. Kessler looked slightly vulnerable at times in this fight, but what makes him so dangerous is his warrior fighting spirit and his punching power. Excellent win for Kessler.

Other Boxing Results

David Price Destroys Sam Sexton In 4 Rounds

David Prices puts on a very calm and relaxed performance. He looked great tonight working behind the jab. His style resembled Wladimir Klitschko's. He stayed behind the jab, boxed carefully, but still applied the pressure. Price totally controlled the fight from the start and it looked like Sextons game plan was to cover up, let Price punch himself out a little, and then start applying the pressure in the later rounds. It wasn't to be. Price punched too hard and found the little openings in Sextons defence. The power of Prices punches was too much for Sexton to handle. Once Price started landing cleaner punches, the fight was over.

Price is destined for better things. He has all the tools to go far. He is very tall, has good power, and a good boxing style that makes the most of his gigantic size. By the time he is ready for World title fights (Around 2 years time) the Klitschko's will most probably be retired. Vitali will be anyway. This would be an ideal opportunity for Price to grab one of the World Titles.

Another Boxer Failing Drug Tests

Another Boxer Failing A Drug Test

First it was Lamont Peterson that failed a drug test, now it's Andre Berto as well!. Berto was scheduled to fight Victor Ortiz in June but now that could be in jeopardy depending on what results come back for the drug test. Is there a logical explanation? The facts aren't clear yet so people mustn't jump to conclusions. But it doesn't look good for Andre Berto and his camp. And what about boxing as a whole..Two world class boxers failing drug tests while in preparation for the most important, high profile fights of their boxing careers. I hope there is a logical and easy explanation for Berto failing.

As for Lamont Peterson, he has already admitted to taking testosterone. So if Andre Berto doesn't fight Victor Oritz because of this where does that leave Ortiz. Well, there are talks of replacements stepping in to face Ortiz The show must go on. The replacement fighter that I think everyone would love to see against Victor Ortiz is Amir Khan..Why not? Both have now had their opponents fail drugs test so why not fight each other. That would be a great fight. One that would be making the best out of a bad situation. Sadly, I think Amir Khan just wants his old belts back before anything else.

Lets sit tight and see what happens. I hope Berto comes through clean so he still gets to fight Ortiz because that's an exciting rematch.

Mikkel Kessler Vs Allan Green Weigh-In

Mikkel Kessler Vs Allan Green Weigh-In

Kessler Vs Green Should be an interesting fight for a few rounds. But I'm surprised Green is being given this chance because he's looked shot as a fighter. After a few rounds he becomes very tired and weak. Not sure why. Before the boxing matches he states that he's in excellent shape and never felt better. Then he gets battered. He is a fighter that has been on the slip. Hopefully he will have some of his old fire back in this fight.

Green will try to make this fight a clinical boxing match, using boxing skills and awkwardness to frustrate and confuse Kessler. But Green doesn't have the engine to do that for 12 rounds. At some point he will get tired, and Kessler will catch up with him sooner or later. There's only going to be one winner...Kessler! Enjoy the weigh-in.

Timothy Bradley Vs Manny Pacquiao

Timothy Bradley Vs Manny Pacquiao

Fight Date: 9th June 2012 - Checkout the Weigh-In

This is one of the best boxing match ups for a while. I cannot believe that people think this is going to be an easy fight for Manny! It's clear that with people thinking this way, they have no respect for Bradley as a top P4P level fighter. But I bet they will after this fight. This will be one hell of a tough fight for Manny Pacquiao. Timothy Bradley  has the will and the skill to push Manny to the limit.

It's fair to say that every time someone says "Manny might lose this fight", he ends up obliterating his opponent. There have been a few times were I have thought and said the same thing and Pacman has surprised me by dominating. And not taking anything away from any other Pacman victims of the past but Bradley is a different kettle of fish. He really is coming to win and he truly believes that he will win, no matter what it takes. Also being unbeaten as well, this makes him one of Manny's toughest opponents. Not just of recent years either but of his whole boxing career.

If Manny can convincingly beat Timothy Bradley he should be considered as being still on top of his game. I say this because after his last fight against Marquez people were saying that Manny was clearly beaten and that he's on the slip as a fighter. The truth is, Manny has always had severe problems fighting Marquez. I don't think he's on the slip, but rather Marquez put on the performance of a lifetime and also knew the script on Manny having fought him twice already.

So how does Bradley beat Pacquiao. It's will be tough but Pacquiao defensively is pretty open after he has let his own punches go, he does get hit. So it's a matter of timing and speed for Bradley. Timothy Bradley, although nowhere near as fast as Pacquiao, is a very busy fighter with rough house tactics and is also great at working on the inside so he will cause many problems for Manny. Bradley's young, hungry, in superb condition, and not coming to get a pay cheque, he really is coming to win, and with the skills and mindset that he has I think we could be looking at a potential upset in this fight. Bradley, so far, has always found a way to win. Can he do it against one of the absolute best in the sport today.

As for Manny, he just has to be himself. His Power and speed will cause anyone problems right up to the Middleweight division. And the same goes for Bradley in terms of getting hit, he is quite open defensively after throwing his own punches. He stays in the pocket, so Pacquiao can, and will no doubt take advantage of this. But I have to say something, and I know sparring isn't the best measuring stick in terms of what a fighter will do in the ring on fight night, but I was watching Manny in sparring the other day and he was getting tagged all over the place. He didn't look very sharp and was getting caught over and over again. Maybe he was just taking it easy. Hopefully he was. Luckily, there is still some time to go before the fight and more sparring will be taking place so he has time to get serious and sharpen up. This fight is a big test for both fighters.

Prediction: Bradley fights like a man possessed and wins on points.

Haye Talks About The Chisora Fight

Haye Talks About The Chisora Fight

Quite a funny Interview With David Haye About Chisora and the upcoming fight! David Haye says Chisora is a bully. The fight between Haye and Chisora is still on but the powers that be in the UK are not happy. They are trying everything to make the fight not happen. Including threatening to take boxing licenses away from people involved in the fight. I think they are taking things a bit too far. Just let them fight. People want to see it.

David Haye Will Fight Dereck Chisora

David Haye Will Fight Dereck Chisora

Well it's confirmed, David Haye will fight Dereck Chisora at Upton Park on July 14th 2012. These two guys don't particularly like each, like your probably aware. This should be a really good fight. David Haye is possibly a few levels above Chisora as far as boxing skills are concerned, but as we seen against Vitali, Chisora is one tough guy with a great chin. Should be a very interesting fight. Definitely a sell out. Check out the Haye - Chisora head to head.

Canelo Alvarez Beats Shane Mosley

Canelo Alvarez Beats Shane Mosley On Points

What a great, all action fight! Shane Mosley puts on a spectacular performance and pushes Canelo to the limits of exhaustion. The fight went to the score cards where Canelo won a wide decision. But the cards were not very accurate, the fight was much closer. Canelo was cut by an accidental headbutt early in the fight and this no doubt affected his fight plan and made him uncomfortable going into the second half of the fight. Credit to both fighters because the fight was mostly toe to toe action from the first bell to the last.

Many people are saying that Canelo is a fraud because he couldn't stop an old Shane Mosley. However, styles make fights, and their styles gelled extremely well. This had a lot to do with this fight being so close. Shane Mosley really came to fight tonight. Full credit to him. He surprised a lot of people tonight by keeping up with a very young, in his prime fighter. Canelo landed some great power punches that did stun Mosley, but Mosley for most of the exchanges just kept moving forward. Great Fight.

Mayweather Beats Cotto

Oh, and surprise surprise. Floyd Mayweather beats Miguel Cotto on points. Cotto put on a super brave performance, and a great effort overall. He did catch Mayweather with some decent punches at times, and when Cotto closed the distance and worked in close along the ropes he did have some good success. Cotto surprised a lot of people. He really came to fight. Mayweathers nose was bleeding through out most of the fight and he did look more marked up then usual at the end of the fight. However, all in all, Floyd Mayweather did put on a great boxing performance. He was on another level, to sharp, too slick, too clever, and also very impressive defensively. Very good fight. And much closer then most people thought it would be. Great counter punching by Mayweather. But just like the Canelo Mosley fight, the score cards should have been much closer for this fight. Probably the toughest fight of Floyds boxing career so far.

Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto

Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto

Floyd Mayweather picks Miguel Cotto as his next victim to make a fight that will possibly be close to identical to what Mayweather had against Shane Mosley. But maybe more of a bloodbath.

This fight will most probably end with Cotto being cut to ribbons due to Floyds accuracy and Cotto's tendency to get cut and marked up pretty easily. Cotto looked great against the Frankenstein of the lighter weights of boxing, Antonio Margarito, but Floyd Mayweather is such a superior boxer and defensive movement master that it's hard to see Cotto making any impact at all in this fight. What are Cotto's tactics going to be in this fight? Try and out-box Mayweather? Not in a million years. Rush in with all guns blazing and risk getting knocked out? Floyd Mayweather is a counter puncher so if Cotto can feint a lot and try to time Mayweathers responses perhaps it could be a little closer then people think.

Cotto's could also stand a chance if he try's to maul Mayweather. Close the distance and go to work body and head. Easier said then done against Mayweather. And I believe that these are the tactics the Cotto camp are going to try and use in this fight, but no matter who they have sparred with in order to prepare for this gameplan they just can't compare to Mayweather. Not matter which way you look at it, Cotto's in for a very tough nights work. Floyd Mayweather has chose to fight Cotto because he can see many holes that he can exploit. Mayweather's even said, "You can change Cotto's style at this late stage of his boxing career". So he knows exaclty who and what he's facing on May 5th.

This is a great fight from a money point of view, and also for the fans. Cotto has a huge fan base, and fans always buy PPV when Mayweathers fighting. Whether they tune in to watch Mayweather dismantle someone or to see him lose or get knocked out makes no difference, they still pay for the fight. Personally I love watching Floyd Mayweather, and not because I want him to lose. I believe he is the best P4P boxer out there right now. And will remain the best for another two years.

Does anyone think Cotto has a chance of winning this fight? Cotto's a very good fighter and a great guy but he doesn't stand much chance of beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. Cotto is too slow hand and foot. Mayweather will dominate this fight with sheer speed, accuracy, and elusiveness. But, you can never say never in boxing!
