After his well documented PED failures, and with many people saying he should be banned for life, Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller made his return to the ring in late June 2022. Since then he has fought journey men on his come back trail. On 18th March 2023 his level of opposition increased somewhat when he took on Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne in Dubai and stopped him via TKO. See the video below.
While Browne is much more decorated on paper than Millers previous two opponents, Browne is completley shot to bits and should have retired years ago. So this win doesn't really prove much. Miller came in very heavy [around 330lbs], and it is unclear whether there was any drug testing for this fight. It will be interesting to see how Miller performs against better heavyweights, with drug testing in place, who are ranked higher and not at the tail end of their careers.

IKE IBEABUCHI Has Been Released 2022
IKE "The President" IBEABUCHI is back. He has been released from prison and is now back in Nigeria, and appears to be a free man. If you don't know who Ike is, he was one of the best up and coming Heavyweights of the 1990's. He was a serious force to be reckoned with, and in my opinion would have no doubt went on to become a heavyweight champion had he stayed out of trouble. At 20 wins and 0 losses he is still undefeated. Check out the video below of Ike working out. He is still in great shape for his age.
Now at 49 years old, he does plan to make a comeback. In all honesty, at almost 50 years old, I think we can all agree that his best days in the ring are behind him. But it would be great if he could get a few warm up fights against low level opposition [which is needed as he has been in prison for 20 years], then maybe fight on a Triller event against another boxing or MMA veteran.
Can Ike Ibeabuchi win a major title at 49. I doubt it, but stranger things have happened. George Foreman did it at 45, so you just never know. We'll have to see what he has left. But It only takes one punch in the heavyweight division.
Power is the last thing to leave a fighter. And Ike was a powerful guy. He is one of those guys, who even at almost 50, I wouldn't completely right off. If he does come back, I can't wait to see him in the ring again. If you haven't seem him fight, take a look at highlight video above or watch the full fight he had against David Tua. It was a war. I wish Ike all the best in his life and comeback to the ring. I'll be rooting for him. Be sure to subscribe to Ike's YouTube channel and send him your best wishes.

Fury Vs Whyte 1st Press Conference
The Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte Press Conference has ended in many fans being somewhat disappointed by Dillian Whyte not turning up. I don't want to get into the reasons for Whyte not attending, or why he is staying silent and is apparently unhappy with the contract / percentage split of the purse. There is a lot of boxing politics involved, and it does seem to be more of an issue between the promoters than the fighters themselves. Anyway, the press conference wasn't a total failure.
Tyson Fury managed to do a pretty good job of entertaining and making it quite funny. Let's hope that Whyte does attend the next press conference, at least for the fans. I mean, he is getting a good payday, a shot at the WBC title which has he has been trying to get for years, and headlining at Wembley Stadium. Is that not enough? It would be shame if he never took part in any of the build up. You can watch the press conference below [from Top Rank].

Filip Hrgovic Calls Michael Hunter A Coward
Filip Hrgovic Vs Michael Hunter was a fight many fans were looking forward to. This fight was an eliminator for a shot at the IBF Title. Most boxers would jump at the chance for that opportunity. Many would even take short money, knowing that when they win, they get to fight for a real, prestigious heavyweight title. But not Michael Hunter. He favoured an offer of more money from Triller to fight some taxi drivers.
Even though the money Hunter would have gotten to fight Hrgovic was good. Anyway, most see Hunter's actions as a complete duck, take the easy road and get a little more money in the process. I believe the potential replacement to fight Filip Hrgovic [12-0] is Tony Yoka [currently 10-0]. That will be a good fight if it goes ahead.

Andy Ruiz Jr Buys New Lamborghini SUV
Andy Ruiz Jr is definitely still treating himself. Check out the new beast of a Lamborghini SUV he just bought for around $300K. Very nice car. Looks like he's still in party mode, getting in some last minute treats before going to camp. I wish him all the best in training and hope the rematch lives up to the expectations. Should be a good fight.
AJ Vs Ruiz Rematch Location Confirmed
Quick post. AJ Vs Ruiz Rematch Location Confirmed. Breaking News! The fight is on, and the location for Anthony Joshua Vs Andy Ruiz Jr 2 has been confirmed. And its not what most people were expecting. The rematch is set to take place in Saudi Arabia. And while this is definitely a neutral location for both fighters, the very fact that in the rematch clause I believe the terms stated that the location for the rematch was entirely the decision of AJ and Matchroom, many people think that the rematch should have been held in the UK. Anthony Joshua needs every advantage he can get. Mentally and physically.
In a recent interview AJ said (I'm paraphrasing) he needed the UK fans behind him in order to give him that extra push of desire and energy if / when things get tough in the ring, but with most of his die-hard fans more than likely not willing to travel to Saudi Arabia to be there in person, did AJ just give up a key element he believes he needs in order to come away with the win.. Add to that the heat. I'm not sure how hot Saudi Arabia is in December, but if its extremely hot and humid, does this give Ruiz Jr the advantage due to the fact that he is much more used to the heat being from California. We will see. As if the rematch wasn't going to be one of the biggest fights in many years anyway, with these strange developments, it makes the fight even more interesting.

Anthony Joshua "AJ" UK Memorabilia
Anthony Joshua "AJ" UK Memorabilia. Heavyweight powerhouse Anthony Joshua is certainly one of the most talked about boxers at the moment. From humble beginnings, to almost always spreading a positive message, it's not hard to see why he has so many fans. There's a lot to like. And that admiration is not just from people in the UK either. Whether you love him or hate him, think he's genuine or putting on a nice persona to portray a sellable media image, he has fast become the new golden boy of boxing.
As a result, everyone not only wants to see him fight, but they also want to be part of the event by actually being there in attendance at the arena. This is great, and just what boxing needs. However, this translates to tickets selling out extremely fast. If you want to be in attendance at Joshua's next fight, you have to be very quick off the mark where securing tickets is concerned. Either that or you will have to go to the secondary market, such as Stubhub, where the prices will be much higher. I believe his next fight against Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden is close to sold out already. And a lot of those tickets have been sold to travelling Brits
With so much popularity also comes a booming Memorabilia market. Merchandise is also fairly popular, but not when compared to the level at which Gennady Golovkin's is. But hey, right now, with the -rare for boxing- Jordan sponsorship deal that triple G has secured, and with his normal "GGG" merchandise being so nice, there aren't many fighters who are on that level.
As you can imagine, with still so much to come from AJ in 2019 / 2020 and beyond, such as fighting Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder to potentially hold ALL the major Heavyweight titles (What an achievement that will be), fans want to buy up a piece of historic memorabilia in the making. Because really, AJ's career is still in its early stages. The legacy defining fights are yet to come. Even when he first won the IBF title against Charles "I walk this Earth like a God" Martin, he (and his promoter Eddie "Apples and Pears" Hearn) freely admitted that he is still learning on the job.
While it doesn't seem like it now because of how easy Anthony disposed of Martin, it was a huge risk putting AJ in a world title fight so early in his professional career. But it paid off. However, he still has a lot of maturing to do in terms of ring craft and overall experience. The good thing is, he knows this. That's why Tyson Fury wants to fight him sooner rather than later! With so much still to come, and with millions of fans worldwide, Anthony Joshua Memorabilia is in high demand, with the most popular items being, of course, the signed glove (usually sold framed with images), followed by signed shorts and a signed photo.
The great thing about AJ, other than him being a great fighter, is how approachable and fan friendly he is. He understands and truly appreciates when people actually take time out of their day, travel far and wide, just to try to get a glimpse of the champ through the crowd. He is aware that for most fans, actually getting to have an interaction with AJ, such as a hand shake and a picture, or better still, getting something signed, means the world to them. It not only makes their day, but in many cases creates a fan for life.
I've personally seen Anthony Joshua stand in the middle of crowds of fans and literally conform to every request a fan asked of him. He really appreciates the fans, and more importantly, shows it with his actions. Because of this, there is no shortage of Memorabilia out there for sale. He is forever signing gloves and photographs. There's also story's (and video footage) of him doing kind gestures for people who were there for him at the very beginning of his journey into boxing when he was just starting out as an Amateur. So many boxers, who are lucky enough to achieve success, forget where it all started and lose sight of the people who were good to them when they had nothing.
It appears AJ is not blinded by the money and glitz and glamour a celebrity status brings and has kept his feet firmly on the ground and knows who the "Real" people are in his life. And those who should have a share in his success, not the hangers-on and hype men who will be gone as soon as something goes wrong, but the real people who were there when he was just known as Femi. Staying loyal, and remembering who had a hand in moulding you into what you are today, are such good qualities to have. Sadly, these days they are somewhat lacking, and not just in boxing either.
Can you imagine how hard it would be to keep your feet firmly on the ground if you were in AJ's position? Money, fame, hype, people constantly telling you how great you are. It's enough to go to anyone's head and make their ego and opinion of themselves inflated beyond belief. Of course, anyone, even AJ, will be affected in some way by all this attention, money and fame. But in my opinion, AJ has, to this point, handled it all extremely well. He's doing a marvelous job.
And in today's world of social media, and needing to stay politically correct at all times just in case you upset the wrong person or say the something the masses don't agree with (look at what the main stream media did to Tyson Fury), that is a difficult thing to do when everything you say is dissected and perceived by millions of people. The media can decide whether to make or break a person, and it seems as though the media are on AJ's side, so that's a huge bonus as far as image, and even success is concerned.
Whilst being a very fast combination puncher for a heavyweight, and looking mostly unstoppable up to this point in his professional career, we will really see what AJ made of in 2019 / 2020, where he will take on some of the top, in their prime heavyweights, who some people think will provide a much sterner test than most of his previous opponents. With Wladimir Klitschko excluded of course, as that was a terrific, coming of age fight, where Joshua was really tested by the long reigning former unified heavyweight champion of the world.
Next in 2019, the next stop is against late replacement, Andy Ruiz Jr. Many people in Boxing know that Ruiz Jr as a very formidable opponent to take on such late notice. However, most causal boxing fans will judge him on his appearance (he is a heavy set guy) and will expect Joshua to blow him out within 6 rounds.
But don't be fooled by appearances, Andy Ruiz Jr is very tough and has a good boxing IQ. He only has one controversial loss to Joseph Parker, and is an extremely fast puncher. He is a tough nights work for anyone in the division. The clash of styles will be very interesting, and don't be surprised if this fight is similar to when AJ fought Takam, another small heavyweight that Joshua didn't look great against due to the size and style match up . But most people, including myself, think that AJ will beat Ruiz Jr by late stoppage. Hopefully AJ works on his stamina, as that appears to be the one area of concern, most probably due to the sheer amount of muscle / weight he is carrying.
If Joshua can get past Ruiz Jr, it potentially sets up a huge unification fight for all the belts (winner will be the undisputed champion) with the WBC champion Deontay Wilder, who is no doubt the biggest, and wildest one punch knockout danger-man of the division. However, what he has in power is equalled up by his limited level of opposition and questionable chin.
He has been rocked numerous times in the ring against much lesser opponents, and apparently even knocked out cold (twice) by Wladimir Klitschko in sparring, which, rumour has it, is one of the reasons why we never seen a unification / undisputed match between Wilder and Wladimir ever take place. But make no mistake about it, Joshua's chin isn't made of cast Iron either, and while Wilder has been hurt and outboxed in some of his fights against opponents nowhere near the level of Joshua, he does have that one-punch equalizer that can see an opponent who was winning the fight literally wake up in hospital thinking, what year is it. This is the most dangerous fight for AJ. Wilder's unconventional style and raw power makes every exchange a potential fight ender. A very interesting fight.
Then we have the uncrowned champion Tyson Fury. He is still seen as the champion by many people after getting a draw against Wilder after years away from top contention, and is now considered by many as the real champion of the WBC title that Wilder is still holding hostage. Tyson Fury is still basically unbeaten. From a technical boxing perspective, Fury is no doubt the toughest test out there for Anthony Joshua. Fury moves extremely well for such a big guy, has excellent boxing skills, and is much harder to hit than people give him credit for.
If Anthony Joshua can win all the bouts against the fighters mentioned, and win them in style, then takes on some of the up-and-comers and beats them handily, he should be considered as the best heavyweight of this era. To take out the last belt holder, become undisputed, and then go on to beat the man who many consider to be the one with the skills to potentially give you a boxing lesson, would be some achievement. And one that would make all memorabilia owners even more proud of their early signings and purchases. That goes for memorabilia investors and true AJ fans alike. If he stays focused, doesn't get complacent and keeps that "challenger" mindset, I believe he can do it.
As a result, everyone not only wants to see him fight, but they also want to be part of the event by actually being there in attendance at the arena. This is great, and just what boxing needs. Putting The Time In

GGG Conference Call For Canelo Rematch
Courtesy of the Mayweather Boxing Channel, here is the full conference call for Golovkin, which also features Abel Sanchez (Golovkin's trainer) and Tom Loeffler (promoter). In this phone interview, Triple G answers the questions in Russian using an English translator. The general feeling from listening to this, is Gennady appears a little bit annoyed with all drama that's been going on with the Canelo camp and just wants the 15th September to hurry up and arrive so he can do his talking in the ring.
This call also somewhat clears up the rumours and controversy about the complaints regarding the boxing gloves Canelo wanted to wear in the rematch and the hand wrapping that has been contested against. The one thing that was really surprising to hear in this call was the fact that this fight is not even sold out yet.
There are still tickets available, which seems crazy for a fight of this magnitude. Maybe as the fight draws closer and the excitement builds, we could see a last minute spurt in ticket sales, which hopefully, for boxing's sake, sees the event become a sell out. PPV sales should still be high.
After all, these are two of the biggest names in the sport. However, the most probable reason why this fight is suffering in terms of ticket sales, and quite possibly PPV numbers, is down to the controversial decision in their first fight, where almost everyone thought Golovkin won. It's clear that people are getting tired of paying for what they see as corruption.

Wilder Fury Not Signed Sporting Icons
Despite all the antics after the Fury Vs Pianeta fight, and Frank Warren clearly saying "The fight is on!", there is still no actual confirmation that the fight has been signed and will be taking place. Perhaps the final details are taking a little while longer than expected. Hopefully that is the case. Although I don't think Tyson Fury is ready at this moment to fight and beat Deontay Wilder (it's a bit too early in his comeback), with the right training and carefully chosen sparring partners to mimic Wilder as best as they can, it's still a very interesting match up. And a huge fight for the heavyweight division.
I'd give Fury a much better chance of winning if he hooked back up with his uncle, Peter Fury. And if he would have had a few more fights before facing top level opposition. But it is what it is. Anyway, check out the video from Sporting Icons, where he talks in a bit more detail about the Wilder Vs Fury fight still not being signed yet.

Tyson Fury Should Be Celebrated
So, Tyson Fury goes to Germany, and with everything against him, beats the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World who has reigned for over a decade, and comes back to the UK not as a hero, but to a mountain of riducule made up by the main stream media. Most of the UK newspapers are total scum, and this just proves it even more. They would sell their own mothers for a story. If you're not a robot and don't act and say what is deemed as "politically correct" they will jump all over it, blow it out of all proportion, and try to make you look like a bad person. This is what they are currently doing to Tyson Fury.
But I'm glad to see that a lot of people can see through their tactics. They are master manipulators, always trying to condition people into thinking a certain way in order to forward their own sneaky agenda. They do it with everything, not just with people who don't conform and speak their mind like Tyson Fury. A common, and extremely successful example is the way the media reports on wars. Most of what is written and reported has been cleverly crafted in order to get the public to think or react in a certain way. One word can sum this up quite well. Propaganda. Here is the definition of the word Propaganda. "Propaganda is a powerful weapon in war; it is used to dehumanize and create hatred toward a supposed enemy, either internal or external, by creating a false image in the mind." Only, this method can be used for anything and have the same effect.
So Tyson said something about a women athlete that looks good in a dress, and voiced his opinion on Gay people and Paedophiles. And what...Can a man not have an opinion anymore? What, just because that opinion does not agree with everyone he's now considered as a sexist and a homophobe.. Christians and Muslims do not agree with Homosexuality, and if you follow one of those religion's do you have to pretend that you are in full support of it just in case you hurt someones feelings..You can't say anything these days without insulting at least one person. Well, f*ck them. Not everyone agrees with that sh*t. And the people who don't shouldn't be afraid to voice their opinion. It's OK when people want to express themselves and do a gay march but its not OK when a man wants the same equal right to speak his mind. It's called freedom of expression / freedom of speech, and it works both ways.
Boxing's a mans sport, with real men who sometimes speak their minds. If some people don't like, or can't handle that go and watch something else. In my opinion we need more people like Tyson Fury. And just like the powers that be have started a petition that now has 70,000 signatures in favour of him being removed from the short list of becoming the sports personality of the year, I wish there was a reverse petition for people who support Tyson. I bet that would blow the 70,000 signatures from the people who want him removed out of the water. Is there one that I'm not aware of? Post a comment.
Overall, I think it's really sad when a man who, against all odds, pulls off a win against a great champion when no one expected him to even last a few rounds, comes home and is not given his well deserved respect. It is a disgrace. The win has been brushed under the carpet and replaced with some silly little story's conjured up by some newspapers desperate to damage a mans image and create controversy. All for the sake of getting some extra website traffic and selling a few more papers. This just goes to show how manipulative and heartless the main stream media is.
Thankfully, we are not living in World War II, where for some country's the only sources of information were either papers / leaflets dropped from aircraft's to the people below, or the radio.. Imagine how easy it was to make people think a certain way when that's their only sources of information. With the Internet people now have unlimited sources of REAL news outlets to choose from and the agenda driven mainstream outlets hate that! Look at some of the things they have reported about Tyson Fury..Look at the way they worded it, and then go and watch the actual video footage that they wrote the story about. You will no doubt see with your own eyes how they have twisted the whole thing and blown it all out of proportion. They have made themselves look really stupid. Like the title says, Tyson Fury should be celebrated for going over to Germany and beating the champ in his own back yard against all odds. It really is a great achievement, and I'm so happy for him and his team.
Another sad development for me is how much respect I have lost for Wladimir Klitschko throughout the build up to this fight, and in the actual fight itself. Him and his team tried every dirty trick possible to give themselves the best possible chance of winning this fight. And they still lost!. I know Wladimir has been a great champion and deserves respect, but I think he deserved to lose this fight. He wanted to control every aspect but was met with resistance every step of the way.
Mind Games: First off, the boxing glove drama. Not supplying the correct gloves. Then the weight at the weigh in being wrong, which again seemed deliberate. The bouncy castle ring canvas that was highly suspicious. Tyson's team, and even Lennox Lewis were not impressed to say the least. A representative from the British Boxing Board, or commission said they had never seen anything like it, ever!. It was so spongy that it appears to have been used as a tactic to try and knacker Fury's legs out after a few rounds making him a slower, easier target with worn out legs in the later rounds. Wladimir's hand wraps were also done without a witness from the Fury camp being present. Again, very suspicious behaviour for such an experienced champion with almost 70 fights under his belt.
Then comes the fight. Wladimir was doing so many illegal things and the referee did nothing. Wladimir was pulling Fury's head down and basically getting him in a head lock. He kept turning his back, which he should have been warned, and eventually deducted a point for. Ironically, Fury had a point taken away for hitting Wladimir when his head was turned away! [Protect yourself at all times] Wladimir was also trying the punch (hook) followed by the push trick, a tactic he used to full effect when he fought and knocked out Kubrat Pulev. And if that wasn't enough Wladimir became so frustrated that he couldn't tame Fury that he gave Fury a jumping head butt! In full view of the referee. When this happens Fury actually turns to the referee and says something like "Have a word ref", or "Come on ref", but still the referee done nothing at all. Referee Tony Weeks was a complete joke. And guess who the referee was when Wladimir fought Pulev and used his punch and push technique to full effect without getting as much as a warning. Yeah, you got it, Tony Weeks.
It was like Wladimir would do anything to hold on to those belts. Cheating, with home advantage, and with the referee in his pocket, he still lost anyway. The better man won. And that man should not be pressured into holding his tongue. Seeing how Tyson is, he won't be anyway. He has an opinion like everyone else, and he's not afraid to tell it like he sees it. And that's the way it should be. Does the issue go deeper? I got the feeling that a lot of people, including the UK boxing commentators / presenters, really didn't want Fury to win this fight. Some people are convinced the bad press Fury is getting is not only due the comments he has made about various subjects, but also because he is a Gypsy..It could well be true, but who knows for sure. Whatever the reason, and whatever his personal opinions are, give the man the credit he deserves. He's done something that many have tried but failed to do, relieve Wladimir of all his belts. Well done Tyson Fury.

Wladimir Klitschko To Take On Jennings
Wladimir Klitschko will fight Bryant Jennings (19-0-10) at the Madison Square Garden on April 2015. The multiple belt holding champion, who holds three of the major titles, and is also the Ring Magazine champion, has spent the last six years fighting mostly in Germany. His last fight in the USA was against Sultan Ibragimov in 2008. This change of location, and the fact that one of the titles that Wladimir doesn't hold, the WBC belt, has just been won by Olympic Bronze medallist Deontay Wilder, has really helped to pump some much needed worldwide interest back into heavyweight boxing again.
Lets go champ! Will Briggs be ringside at the fight? Image Credit: totalsportek.com
This will be Wladimir's 18th title defense, does Jennings pose a real threat to making this Wladimir's last title defence. After all, he is now 38 years old (39 when this fight takes place). How long can he go on for.. Regardless of age, It would be a huge upset if Jennings could dethrone Klitschko and take not one, but three titles in one sitting. Bryant Jennings is a good fighter, he has good boxing skills, a good engine, and a lot of heart. What he doesn't have however is power and experience. He has only had 19 fights so he is still fairly green. For the vastly more experienced Klitschko, this will be his 67th fight.
Jennings, although not a huge puncher, does have enough power to stop Wladimir, he is a heavyweight boxer with a 50% KO ratio, and we know Wladimir's chin is suspect, but landing a full bodied shot on Wladimir when he is constantly in defensive mode, fighting long or tying up is easier said then done. But hey, his style may be boring to some but boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, and Wladimir has pretty much mastered that. Bryant Jennings' last two fights against Artur Szpilka, and Mike Perez were two good wins, but with both fighters being small heavyweights that have limited boxing skills, fresh resumes and a lethargic work rate after a few rounds, it's hardly a good spring board to facing top level opposition. The difference in class, world class, compared to fighting a Klitschko is huge.
Anything can happen in heavyweight boxing, but the phrase "getting him out the way early" springs to mind. This is a little too soon for Jennings to take on such an experienced champion like Wladimir. We all know how good Wladimir is at keeping a smaller fighter at the end of that ram rod jab all night. The smart money will be on a Klitschko win either be knockout or decision. Will it even be worth betting on? Klitschko will definitely be the firm favourite and the odds will most probably be ridiculous. Maybe a long shot on Jennings if you're a risk taker or just fancy a flutter.
However, from a fans perspective all is not lost. We could see some mistakes from Klitschko due to him being out of his comfort zone fighting in the USA. Also, if he tries to impress the crowd and take some chances going for the knockout he could leave some openings for Jennings to take advantage of. Am I just wishful thinking..Is Wladimir just too experienced at this stage for silly mistakes. In saying that, Wladimir has been looking more exciting in his last few fights, boxing less cautious and letting his hands go more. His last two fights were like this, although still safety conscious, Wladimir was more exciting and he won both bouts by knockout. But there is a fine line between exciting and being reckless.
So many of Wladimir Klitscho's previous opponents always seem to neglect one of the most important strategies to adopt when fighting Wladimir, head movement. An opponent that springs to mind is Alex Leapai. Although he was at a disadvantage in every aspect to begin with, he basically done himself no favours and just stood right in front of Wladimir with no head movement until he was knocked out. It makes you think, what were they working on in camp? Was there any game plan at all..
Alexander Povetkin had the right idea when he fought Wladimir, good head movement and try to get on the inside and land hard overhand punches, it's just unfortunate that Wladimir was allowed to get away with leaning all over Povetkin. The leaning was so bad that Wladimir should have been disqualified.
Lets hope that Jennings and his team stress this concern to the referee in order to make sure Jennings gets a fair shot at the titles. Should Wladimir make a successful defense of his titles against Jennings we could see a unification fight between Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko in the near future. One things for certain, Jennings isn't coming into this fight with the mentality of just making up the numbers, he believes this is his time. He won't lie down, he will give it everything. So expect an exciting fight.

David Haye Come Back Interview 2013
David Haye is fighting on June 29th 2013 against an opponent yet to be named. Haye and Adam Booth have assured everyone that the opponent will be a highly ranked heavyweight within the top 15 of the world rankings. We all know that David Haye showed himself up against Wladimir Klitschko with all the talk, the toe, and not knocking Wladimir out. But he has slightly redeemed himself by smashing Chisora to bits. No one expected Haye to demolish Chisora the way he did. Chisora went 12 rounds with Vitali Klitschko and Vitali, although he hurt his hand in the fight, could not get rid of Chisora. Yet David Haye completely knocked him into next week.
David Haye did choose to retire early for a heavyweight at 31 years old. It was a bit of a silly decision that Haye and Adam Booth came to many years ago, that Haye would do all he could in the sport and then retire at 31. But for a heavyweight 31 is very young to retire. David Haye, now 32, is actually in his prime for a heavyweight. While it's true that all people reach a peak at different ages and wear and tear can count for a lot, David Haye hasn't really had many tough fights where he's taken huge punishment. Haye's boxing style is elusive, he's an in and out type of fighter. He gets inside, does some damage and gets back out of range.
David Haye coming back is good for British boxing, actually it's good for boxing world wide. It pumps a bit of much needed energy into the heavyweight scene. And it also makes things that little bit tougher for up and comers like Tyson Fury and David Price. Sorry to say, but If either Fury or Price ends up fighting Haye they have a good chance of being out classed, and worse still for them at least, knocked out. Tyson Fury Vs David Haye would be a fight the fans would want to see. It would also generate some big money.

Punching For Street Fighting Reality
Fighting on the street is not recommended. You should try to avoid a confrontation on the street as much as possible. Training in boxing or martial arts will help you in many situations, including a street fight. Thai Boxing, Boxing, Judo, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, all will help you, and by training in those arts most people will develop the mindset of trying to avoid a confrontation unless there is no other option but to defend themselves.
Obviously there are exceptions and some people want to learn Boxing or Martial arts for the wrong reasons. This post is not for promoting violence, It's for people that want to be prepared to defend themselves if the worst happens, and also to help in lessening the risk of injured hands in order to see a fight through to the end. In a street fight or self defence situation you need both hands, what if you throw a punch, land the punch incorrectly and can't use that hand again within the fight because it's swelled up like a balloon and hurting bad. You have just become hindered by injury, now your chances of coming out of that fight in one piece have been lowered considerably.
Some people say that you shouldn't punch in a street fight. In some ways this is good advice. One of the methods behind this madness is that your hands are not tough enough to withstand the force of punching someone in the face or head. Street fights are unpredictable and in the heat of the moment your punching can be wild. This means that in a real situation you won't be able to land the perfect punch every time. Sometimes you end up landing a punch and you will connect with the smallest two knuckles (The end two). Connecting with the last two knuckles on someones face bones, teeth, and specially the head will almost certainly result in those knuckles becoming instantly swollen. Connecting at funny angles with the weakest knuckles, hitting tough bones in the face, teeth and the head, will happen in a street fight that lasts longer then a few seconds.
In fact, even one punch can result in damage to your hand if you throw a punch and it doesn't land on target correctly. Using a flat palm can be a very effective strike in a street fight, along with elbows, kicks and knees. Using these less fragile parts of the body to strike with can obviously lessen the risk of injury to your hands. However, most peoples instinct is first and foremost to throw punches.
If you want to minimise the risk of injuring your hands in a street fight you have to make your hands and knuckles as tough as possible. Boxing training can help but in boxing you always wear gloves and hand wraps when punching anything. And as much as this will still make your hands reasonably tough, it will not help that much in a real street fight situation where you have no hand protection at your disposal and it's as real as it gets.
This is where we have to look to some of the training methods used in Karate. Certain forms of Karate dedicate big chunks of their training to making the hands and knuckles solid. If you have ever seen a true Karate practitioners hands that trains in the forms of Karate that have a focus on tough hands you will see what I mean. Their hands are solid, like a pair of weapons. Lump Hammers I call them. This type of Karate training focuses on self defence and has the objective of ending a confrontation with one, or several, solid, full force direct strikes. Also with Karate, the focus for some strikes is more on landing a strike / punch with the toughest two knuckles, the two closest to the thumb. If you can train, and make it Instinct to consistently strike and land the two hardest knuckles when you punch in a street fight you will reduce the risk of damaging your knuckles immensely. And at the same time do maximum damage.
In Karate the students will punch / strike some very solid objects like wooden boards, bricks, blocks, and wood with fabric wrapped around. A normal person wanting tougher knuckles and hands for self defence protection and reduced injury does not have to go to such extremes. A good heavy punch bag will do the trick. With one sacrifice, you have to punch it wearing no protection at all. Also, to be safe it's recommended that you start this type of training by punching the top (the softest and more hollow) part of the bag to begin with. Get your hands, wrists, and knuckles used to this first. After a while as your hands, wrists, and knuckles will get used to the solid impact. Your knuckles will start to become tougher.
After a while training like this adjust the height of the bag to make the bag higher, or hit your bag lower so that your now hitting the bottom of the bag, the toughest and most resistant part of the bag. With this training you would want to connect with the two weaker knuckles at times as well and not just focus on the two biggest and strongest. That's because in a street fight, no matter how good and accurate you can punch the chances are that you will connect with the weaker knuckles at some point. So it makes sense to focus on toughening the fists as a whole.
One method that can be beneficial for replicating punching in a street fight is to have a heavy punch bag which is not attached to the ceiling or hanging on a bracket. Place this bag on a ledge at a side angle. Then do up to 6 x 3 minute rounds of bare knuckle punches. Because the bag is at an angle it will get your wrists and knuckles used to landing punches at strange, awkward angles, like what will happen in the reality of a street fight.
Do not jump straight into doing this type of training if you haven't been doing any punching / striking training for a while. You have to work your hands up gradually before going full force at a heavy, barely movable, rock solid, punch bag bare knuckle. One word of warning: Do not use a canvas fabric type punch bag for any of these type of exercises, you will rip your hands to bits. Use a leather cow hide or plastic type material punch bag. Although nothing beats training with real training partners, a heavy, unattached punch bag is also great for strength exercises like lifts, squats, take down practise, and not forgetting ground and pound. Even basic ground fighting techniques like certain position transitions, side control striking, full mount fluency, triangle submission drills. But that's another post.
Nothing is definite and no matter how tough you make your hands it will still not be 100% that you will not injure one or both in a street fight. Street fights are just too unpredictable. But by training the hands in this manner you put better odds in your favour. I wish you every success in gaining your lump hammer fists. For defence purposes of course!

Come back Fight Date: November 24th 2012 against an opponent yet to be named.
As you might have already heard Ricky Hatton is making a comeback to the ring. His reasons for this are basically that he feels he has to put "old ghosts to rest". One of the main "old ghosts" is his devastating knockout defeat by Manny Pacquiao. Mentally that loss really shook Hatton up and it's quite possible that he actually needs to comeback just to ease his own mind and to be able to move forward in life feeling somewhat complete after finishing his return boxing career with a few wins to cushion the blow of past defeats. He needs to redeem himself. Even if the wins aren't against the elite fighters of his division. It's fully understandable. Who would want to end a successful boxing career on a second round 1 punch out cold knockout. Not many people.
The sad thing about his comeback is that Ricky Hatton does not want a few fights against domestic opposition and then just retire for good. He wants one or two warm ups and then he wants to fight against the elite fighters, maybe for a title. This is why many people are worried. Ricky Hatton does not live like a fighter. Actually he doesn't even live healthy when not in training. There are people saying they were out partying with Ricky Hatton in Tenerife no longer then a month ago. He has said himself he has had problems with drink and drugs over the last few years. Abuse and boxing P4P boxers for world titles don't mix well together.
All the bad living has took it's toll on Ricky Hatton, and yes he could get away with a bit of partying, eating junk and boozing here and there when he was younger and in his prime. But now, mid 30's, a few years out of the ring, and not even keeping in shape within those years. Can he come back and beat the guys that absolutely live for boxing, training full time, early to bed, no drinking, no drugs, no nothing..He is going to have a tough time and I can see why people are worried for his safety. Obviously we can't forget that Ricky is / was world class. He has only lost to the best two boxers out there so there is a lot of room in between. Maybe, with the right match making he could win a world title. Yes there are some great champions hovering around his weight classes but there are also a few title holders that Ricky could beat if he becomes super dedicated and starts living for boxing again.
How much can we expect from him. At this late stage of his career he's not going to become a master boxer or change his old style dramatically. He is basically a brawler and his boxing style is not known for it's longevity in this sport. Brawlers like Ricky Hatton take far too much punishment to get inside range to land their own shots. Hatton's defensive skills aren't going to win him any prizes either. Brawlers get hit, that's why most retire a lot sooner then skilled boxers that don't get hit as much. He will have a hard time but it's not an impossible task. Hatton's return has certainly pumped a bit of life into boxing in the UK at the moment so as long as he doesn't get seriously hurt then it's good for the sport. I just hope the rumours aren't true and Ricky Hatton does not fight Juan Manuel Marquez for his return fight to the ring. If he does we could well see his return to the ring ended after one fight.

Vitali Klitschko Vs Charr Stare Down
This could well be Vitali Klitschko's last fight. He is very involved in politics and it seems quite possible that he will be hanging up the gloves after this fight and continuing to fight for change and equality in his home country of Ukraine. Manuel Charr is not very well known in most parts of the world and those that have heard of him, or seen him fight think he has little chance of beating Vitali Klitschko, even at this late stage of Vitali's boxing career. It's fair to say that these two fighter are a few levels apart in terms of world class boxing skills and experience. Although Charr isn't without his fans. Some people are convinced that the title will be changing hands on Saturday.
Manuel Charr is lucky that he is fighting Vitali at the end of his career because if he wasn't he would get destroyed very quickly. Charr does have decent power but with Vitali's boxing style being so awkward, Charr is going to have a hard time with closing the distance, and an even tougher time jumping out of range once he has let his punches go. It should be a good fight worth watching. I believe it's being shown live from Russia on RTL.

Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto
Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto
Floyd Mayweather picks Miguel Cotto as his next victim to make a fight that will possibly be close to identical to what Mayweather had against Shane Mosley. But maybe more of a bloodbath.
This fight will most probably end with Cotto being cut to ribbons due to Floyds accuracy and Cotto's tendency to get cut and marked up pretty easily. Cotto looked great against the Frankenstein of the lighter weights of boxing, Antonio Margarito, but Floyd Mayweather is such a superior boxer and defensive movement master that it's hard to see Cotto making any impact at all in this fight. What are Cotto's tactics going to be in this fight? Try and out-box Mayweather? Not in a million years. Rush in with all guns blazing and risk getting knocked out? Floyd Mayweather is a counter puncher so if Cotto can feint a lot and try to time Mayweathers responses perhaps it could be a little closer then people think.
Cotto's could also stand a chance if he try's to maul Mayweather. Close the distance and go to work body and head. Easier said then done against Mayweather. And I believe that these are the tactics the Cotto camp are going to try and use in this fight, but no matter who they have sparred with in order to prepare for this gameplan they just can't compare to Mayweather. Not matter which way you look at it, Cotto's in for a very tough nights work. Floyd Mayweather has chose to fight Cotto because he can see many holes that he can exploit. Mayweather's even said, "You can change Cotto's style at this late stage of his boxing career". So he knows exaclty who and what he's facing on May 5th.
This is a great fight from a money point of view, and also for the fans. Cotto has a huge fan base, and fans always buy PPV when Mayweathers fighting. Whether they tune in to watch Mayweather dismantle someone or to see him lose or get knocked out makes no difference, they still pay for the fight. Personally I love watching Floyd Mayweather, and not because I want him to lose. I believe he is the best P4P boxer out there right now. And will remain the best for another two years.
Does anyone think Cotto has a chance of winning this fight? Cotto's a very good fighter and a great guy but he doesn't stand much chance of beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. Cotto is too slow hand and foot. Mayweather will dominate this fight with sheer speed, accuracy, and elusiveness. But, you can never say never in boxing!

Martial Arts Training
Martial Arts Training
There are so many different types of Martial Arts Training, from Judo to Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Kick Boxing, the list is very long and there are new forms of Martial Arts being introduced all the time.
However, some Martial Arts Training methods are more effective in real life situations then others. In many ways all Martial Arts can be helpful for many things, including self confidence, Inner peace, and for many other things including self defense. I would say everyone has their own martial art that they would prefer to practice, or that suits them better as a person. But if we are talking about what Martial Arts Training is the most effective against a real life, LIVE opponent, then you have to look closely.
In my opinion if you have been studying any of the Martial Arts training methods and are totally fluent in it, you should be able to use it in a real fight, but this isn't always the case.
I personally have seen a real street fight between a Judo Black Belt and a normal guy on the street, Guess Who won? The normal guy got into a clinch with the Judo Expert, but the normal guy was able to twist his body and land on top of the Judo Black Belt on the floor, after that the normal guy totally punched the face off the Judo Black Belt until he gave in.
This is just one example to teach you one thing. Never limit yourself to one type of Martial Arts Training, if you do you are going to be weak in another area.
In my opinion the best type of Martial Arts Training for use in real life situations is something that focuses on all types of fighting, ground game, stand up, and all the things in between. This Martial Arts training is known as MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), or Vale Tudo (very similar to MMA) Vale Tudo stands for "anything goes" in Portugese.
These two Martial Arts Training methods are very good in many ways, one being time, if you work and socialise, like most people do, you will find it hard to attend mutiple lessons like a boxing lesson and say a Jiu-jitsu lesson if they are on the same day or if they are on a few times a week, you might not be able to free up that many days or hours of your time. With MMA or Vale Tudo the classes focus on everything so there is only one place to attend to learn everything (in time of course). These two Martial Arts Training methods were specifically developed with being able to use them in a real life situation.
Mixed Martial Arts Training will learn you everything, ground fighting, wrestling, submissions, punching, closing the distance, this will give you the best chance, in my opinion, of being able to effectively deal with most real fight situations.
Because with the example above, in this case it's the true story of what i witnessed between a Judo Black Belt and a normal street fighter who trained in no Martial Art or Boxing. Obviously this does matter on the individuals as people, not the art, but in general you have to think, for example, with Judo they practice specific moves over and over in a controlled environment. Your not allowed to try and prevent the move being done on you, in real life there are no set rules, even in Judo sparring your not allowed to do moves that would occur in a real life fight situation, a person in a real fight will tense up and try their hardest to make you not throw them.
So how can you really practice for a real life situation using these methods? In order to practice for real life situations you have to train for them. MMA and Vale Tudo do just that.
Remember, whatever Martial Arts Training you do, never limit yourself to one style. All Martial Arts can be good in their own right but some are way more useful to know in a real life situation.
Don't think im saying Judo is no good, it is very good, but in real life Judo is slightly limited for use as an all round defense system. Doing Judo and Boxing would be much better for real life situations, but if your going to do two, it's great if you have the time to spare, if not go for MMA or Vale Tudo, you get the best of both worlds in terms of time and learning many Martial Arts rolled into one.

Can Boxing Help With Self Defense?
Can Boxing Help With Self Defense?
The quick answer is yes, boxing can help with self defense. Boxing is not just good for physical training, but also good for your mental state, confidence comes with boxing and the better you get, the more confident you will become. Using it in a real life fighting situation will be easier the more experienced you become.
But never forget this, using any fighting art, boxing or even martial arts in a real fight situation depends on your mental state almost 100%. It depends how "in control" you can stay when the situation is totally real. If you can't stay in control and use what you have learnt, you will just result to swinging punches with no skill what so ever. You have to stay calm and in control. If you get caught in the heat of the moment it can be a bad thing.
The key is to make the art you train in become instinct, in this case the art is boxing. If you can do this then the boxing moves will become your instinct, basically you will do it without even thinking. That's when you know you have become good, when you just react on instinct, not by having to think about what your doing or going to do.
Obviously with a huge amount of fights, there over within a few punches, which doesn't take that much thinking about. So boxing can really help with this type of fight. Boxing will train you to punch properly, turning your body into punches and putting body weight behind them, also making your punches nice and straight, keeping your chin down, not advertising your punches etc.
So yes, boxing is a good thing to learn and can definately help you out in a real life self defense situation.

Mike Tyson Today
Mike Tyson Today
In my opinion Mike Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Forget about all his anticts and mood swings. The raw ability that Mike Tyson had was immense. When he was in his prime he was unstoppable. Mike Tyson still holds the record for the youngest heavyweight champion in the history of the sport. Even the great Muhammad Ali said that tyson was the best, he even said he thought Tyson would of beaten him. When Tyson was young and had good influences around him, people like cus d amato, Jim Jacobs, Kevin Rooney, Teddy Atlas. This was when Tyson was at his best.
Tyson was a hero to most in his early days, even me. The excitement of watching a Tyson fight was unbeleivable. He immediately trys to knock the other guy out! You can't take those early days away from him and i think a lot of people think that too, and that's why so many people still love and respect him today, no matter what bad things he has done.
Tysons biggest error is his mental state and how easy he was to be brainwashed. Robin Givens, Don King and many others changed tyson. They bred hate, Don King turned him racist by saying being black is bad and went on about slavery and how the white man has been screwing blacks over for hundreds of years.. This was all just to get Tyson on his side so he could have control over him and the money earned from his fights. And it worked.
After this period in Mikes life he was never the same fighter, although he did have some great wins. But he was so mixed up mentally, people just seemed to want him for what he had, he didn't know who was genuine and who wasn't.
In that respect i feel sorry for Tyson. I know that a lot of things Tyson did, like biting Evander Holyfields ear for one is his fault and he brings it on himself. But how can you expect someone who's had Tysons life to act normal.? All Tyson knew was Chaos. He had no real friends.
In some ways you got to feel for the guy.
The whole point of this post was regarding Tyson as he is today. I was quite saddened when i watched an up to date video on him earlier today, he seemed as if he was on medication. Very quiet and very calm, but too much, like he had been drugged. He just didn't seem the same.
I really hope Tyson can find some peace at this stage of his life and be surrounded by true people that genuinely care for him. I wish you well Mike.
Tyson is definately in the top ten greatest from ALL eras of heavyweight boxing, No doubt.
