Amir Khan Will Fight Paul McCloskey

Well, Amir Khan and his camp have ended up choosing to fight European Champion Paul McCloskey for their home coming fight. It would of been nice for Khan to have taken on a tougher fight in Junior Witter, but I'm sure McCloskey will put on a brave and entertaining performance. Talk is everywhere regarding the Khan Vs McCloskey fight being a tune up for Khans next fight against Timothy Bradley. No doubt McCloskey has been hearing this talk and reading all the comments online, tweets on Twitter etc.

I hope this really motivates him to train extremely hard and make sure he gives Khan a real good fight, just to prove to Khan and his camp that you should never look past any fighter, and it's a mistake to do so. Could we see Khan concentrating on the Bradley fight a little too much through this training camp for McCloskey? Maybe so. No fight is a sure win, and even if they do think McCloskeys an easy fight, which I hope it isn't, it would be wise for Khan to now just forget all the Bradley talk and think about McCloskey.

With all that said, I expect Khan to demolish McCloskey within 8 Rounds. McCloskeys not a bad domestic and European level fighter, but he is not at World level, not yet anyway, and I think this fight will hand him his first loss.

This fight almost didn't happen, McCloskey wasn't happy with the money he was offered. Negotiations were ongoing, along with the Khan camp looking at other options such as John Murray and Junior Witter. But in the end McCloskey came to his senses and took the fight. Just in the nik of time too, because the fight with Witter was close to being signed.

This is McCloskeys big chance to win a World Title, he would of been mad not to take it. He has to step up at some point, and it's better now then never. Let's say McCloskey didn't fight Khan and just defended his European title and ended up losing, it's possible that he would never get another World Title shot ever again. I really hope he gives this fight his all.
