Tyson Fury - Next British Heavyweight Hope?

There is a new boxer on the British stage, who is talking all the talk, and for the moment, walking the walk. His name is Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury is the son of "Gypsy" John Fury, a tough gypsy fighter and half decent professional boxer in his time. John Fury's reputation was more known as a tough gypsy bare knuckle fighter, amongst the Gypsy's he was a tough man.

So his son has the pedigree, coming from a family of fighters, but is he good enough for the world stage, personally i don't think so. But he does have some good skills for an extremely tall boxer, at 6 feet 9 inches! Tyson Fury does have fast hands for his size, not too decided on his power as yet because in his fights he didn't seem that powerful for a heavy weight, but he is only young at 20 years old, so he has time to grow man's strength yet.

I would like Tyson Fury to do well, because we need as many good British heavyweights on the world scene as possible. It would be nice for him to do well and do Britain proud. One thing that is a concern is his size, being that tall does make him a bit unsteady on his feet, and once he moves up in class he will have to take some big punches at some point or another, will he stay on his feet? We will have to wait and see. Tyson Fury's opponents have been very poor so far, so it's hard to get a good measure of how good he is, until he faces someone that is a better class of opponent.

Personally, I think he could be a decent domestic fighter, but other than that he seems pretty slow on his feet, and even against the low class opposition he has faced so far, he looked quite open to punches. But being only young, he has time to perfect all his flaws and become a more fully developed boxer. I just hope he gets the right training as he did look quite out of shape too, maybe that's just the way his body is, though he did have weight around the waist that looked like it could be worked off.

Tyson Fury - Can he take heavyweight punches?

It's very early day's to say, so far he hasn't be tested in the punch resistance department at all, so only time will tell. Tyson Fury certainly believes in himself and so does his dad, Gypsy John Fury. But I hope it's not over confidence, how many boxers destined for big things, after talking all the talk, have failed? There are quite a few.

I hope Tyson Fury is not one of these, but after watching a video on YouTube of Tyson Fury it left me feeling rather annoyed. He seems to have no respect for genuine legends, like George Foreman, Michael Spinks etc, saying he would beat them easily. There's confidence and there's over confidence, this to me is over confidence mixed with arrogance. Tyson Fury hasn't faced a decent opponent yet, so I think he should just get his head down and prove himself, not bad mouth hall of fame legends.
