David Haye Beats Nikolay Valuev To Claim The WBA Heavyweight Title
David Haye has managed to slay the giant, not by knocking him out, but by getting the decision in Germany! Who would of thought it. David Haye fought a very clever fight, moving around, slipping punches and making Valuev miss all night.
David Haye did not land the knockout punches like he thought he would, although he did land the cleaner, more quality shots through a lot of the rounds. Valuev was just too slow for someone as fast as David Haye. In the 12th round David Haye did wobble Valuev, but the experience of Nikolai Valuev was enough to save him, grabbing David Haye and holding on in order to clear his head.
David Haye actually hurt his hand in the second round, this is why he did not go for the knockout as much as he said he was going to in the build up to the fight. I think Haye hurting his hand was the best piece of luck for David Haye, it made him fight the gameplan he needed to fight to win, moving around the ring, dodging the big punches and holds, and not giving Valuev a chance to plant his feet to punch. Also not getting tied up and tired out with the clinching from the 23 Stone Russian Giant. There was almost no holding all night.
All the rounds were pretty slow, with not many punches landing for either fighter. But in the judges eyes, the only eyes that really count, Haye did enough to snatch the WBA Heavyweight Champion chip of the world from Valuev. David Haye is now in a superb position in the heavyweight division. Haye can now take on the Klitschko brothers without having to accept such a raw deal, he now has a belt of his own. A belt that the Klitschko's would like like to add to their collection. I see a fight between Haye and both Klitschko brothers in the near future, possibly Hayes next fight at heavyweight.
The NEW WBA Heavyweight Champion Of The World - David Haye!!!

Sam Sexton Beats Martin Rogan
Sam Sexton Beats Martin Rogan
In an all action fight, which was OK while it lasted, Sam Sexton gets win number 2 over Martin Rogan. I am very disappointed in Martin Rogan, he let his heart rule his head. Rogan has been very angry at Sam Sexton in the build up to this rematch between the two. He let all the heated talk eat him up by fighting way too aggressively, he basically punched himself out and couldn't come out for the second half of the fight.
I think this showed a lack of experience from Martin Rogan. Sexton wasn't even a real threat in any rounds, choosing to just cover up and take all that Rogan had to dish out, but mostly all the head shots delivered from Rogan were blocked by the gloves of Sexton. However, Rogan did land some good body shots and a few decent head punches, but he put so much into mauling and man handling in the early rounds he totally gassed himself out. At 38 years old, Rogan should probably hang up the gloves now, i can't see him getting any better at his age. Sam Sexton fought a good gameplan and i would go as far as to say he had a pretty easy nights work.
I am convinced that if Martin Rogan would of fought more controlled he would have won this fight. But i guess it just wasn't to be. Rogan tried to get Sexton out of there too early, using too much energy and not enough thinking, and he paid the price for it.

David Haye Vs Nikolay Valuev Weigh In
The fight is almost here! David Haye Vs Nikolay Valuev has generated world wide interest. If Daivd Haye wins this fight he will be at the top of the heavyweight division instantly. This is a must win for Haye. If Haye does not win he will have a tough road back, he will have to get in line and earn a heavyweigh title shot.
At the Weigh In David Haye looked, as always, in superb shape. He weighed 15 stone 8 pounds on the scales.
David Haye Vs Nikolay Valuev Weigh In
Nikolay Valuev looked quite a lot slimmer then what i have seen him look in the past. He weighed 22 Stone 7 Pounds, which is very light for Nikolay Valuev. David Haye is giving away a huge weight difference to Valuev. This is a career heaviest for David Haye by 1Lb.
The stare down between the two was intense, neither wanted to look away and show any weakness. This should be an excellent fight. With David Haye weighing 15 Stone 8Lbs, i think that confirms that he is looking for the knockout, he is not going to be able to run around the ring all night weighing that much, he is used to fighting much lighter. Valuev has lost some weight, so he is looking for that extra bit of speed in order to be able to catch up with Haye through out the fight.
I was quite surprised to hear boos for Nikolai Valuev, this fight is in Germany so you would of thought there would be much more Valuev fans. But hey, the UK boxing fans are the loudest in the world.

Fedor Emelianenko Vs Brett Rogers
Fedor Emelianenko Vs Brett Rogers
Fedor Knocks Out Brett Rogers.....Read More
This fight takes place on Saturday November 7th. Fedor Emelianenko, in my opinion is the best MMA fighter in the world. He has the best all round skills. Many people, including many experts also consider Fedor to be the best out there. But we must not forget, Fedor Emelianenko is only human. He has been rocked by punches on a few occasions, but credit where credit is due, he has always found a way to win, and that's what makes Fedor so good. He has great power, superb wrestling and submission skills, and also never gives up.
Brett Rogers
Theres one word that springs to mind when i think about Brett Rogers. Powerhouse. This guy is seriously strong and packs some super punching power, and when you consider the size of the gloves worn in MMA fighting you can see why he has so many knockouts under his belt. He has the same sort of body type as Brock Lesnar, the huge chest and torso, he is also a very big guy standing 6 foot 5". Brett Rogers is not very comfortable on the ground, he is more of a stand "toe to toe" and slug it out type of fighter.
Fedor Emelianenko
I have been reading a lot lately about what the press have been saying about Fedor, things like he's slipping, getting old. He was in trouble against Andre Arlovski etc..Personally i think everyone saying this stuff is just trying to find faults with Fedor. Look at the way all the fights ended, mostly all KO's or submissions. Their making a big deal about Fedor getting caught a few times. This is MMA, people do get caught with blows, it's how they fight back after they get caught with shots, that's the main thing.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers - Who Wins?
I beleive if Fedor fights smart and takes Brett Rogers to the ground, we will see Fedor submit Rogers pretty easily. If however, Fedor decides to stand and trade punches with Rogers, we could see Fedor have a very tough night, and Brett Rogers hits so hard that i wouldn't rule out Fedor getting knocked out. I think Fedor is too smart to stand and trade with Rogers, he knows that's Rogers only chance of winning. Fedor will take this fight to the ground and submit Rogers quite easily. Getting Rogers on the floor might take a bit of hard work though, he is a strong guy with good take down defense. Fedor will have to tire him out a little first.
This is Fedors first fight in the cage, so this could have an effect on Fedor also. But Fedor lives for this, i bet he has been doing many hours of training inside a cage to prepare for this fight.
Prediction: Fedor by submission.
Let me know what you think.

David Haye has arrived in Germany today, with just under a week to go until he faces the biggest test of his boxing career. He looked very tired and said he had been up since very early to catch the flight. Haye also did not finish training until 1am, then having to eat food etc. Haye still was nice enough to fight the sleep deprivation to let the press interview him, and he also signed some autograpths for the fans.
Ok, with that said back to the fight. David Hayes trainer has said Haye will try to knock out Valuev, thats what his aim is. Adam Booth said that Haye always goes for the knockout and this fight will be no different.
Personally i think this is the wrong kind of tactics to use against Nikolay Valuev. He has never been stopped, he has never even been down. I was watching a video on Youtube the other day titled "Valuev Can Take It", and i must say, Valuev was taking some brutal shots to the face (this was earlier in his career when he had less experience and less boxing skills), but he did not go down! Valuev can take some serious punches. I can not see David Haye knocking Valuev out. David Haye has power, but it should not be overated.
With David Haye going for a knock out, Haye could actually punch himself out and get knocked out himself. This is what i beleive will happen. Haye is too trigger happy, he wants to trade punches with the beast, if he does that will be the end for David Haye. He needs to fight with controlled aggression, something Haye does not really do very well. If Haye does not fight the type of fight tactics that the legend Evander Holyfield used, but with more aggression, and being prepared to take a few more risks he will lose. Saying that, i don't think Haye could fight that fight if he wanted to: Haye does not have fast footwork, not when it comes to jumping in and out. When he has fought that way in the past he has tired very quickly, and that was against opponents half the size of Valuev.
Valuev is just too big to stand in front of and trade punches with. David Haye does not have the chin to take Valuevs big tree trunk arms in the face. David Haye does not have the chin, stamina, or ring craft of even an older Evander Holyfield, and i think maybe David Haye knows this, and that is why he is going to go all out for the knockout. The other reason being that he knows he wont get the decision is Germany if the fight goes the distance. Haye is playing a very dangerous game, could he be the first man to knock Valuev out? Well, this is heavyweight boxing, anything can happen, but i think the chances are slim.
My prediction for this fight is: David Haye comes out strong, trading with Valuev for the first 4 - 5 rounds. Valuev gets rocked but does not go down. Valuev uses his weight to lean on David Haye through the next few rounds, landing his own punches on Hayes suspect head and chin. By around the 9th - 10th David Haye is all out of steam, Valuev knocks Haye out through Haye's sheer exhaustion. Either that or Haye's corner refuse to let Haye come out for the end part of the fight.
I would love David Haye to win by KO to be honest. But i can't let my heart rule my head. If David Haye, from the start of the fight goes for the knockout, he will lose this fight by either KO, or just being so tired he's falling all over the place and the referee stops the fight.
Just to let you know, the fight starts at about 9pm, or just after 9pm UK time. I beleive coverage starts at 8pm though. Don't miss it!
**Quick Update**
David Haye's camp are not happy. The mind games have started. Valuev's promoter has put the Haye camp in a hotel too far out of town, far away from anything, shops, people etc. David Haye was not happy about this and Adam Booth (Haye's trainer) had to find them another Hotel.
