David Haye Vs John Ruiz - - April 3rd 2010
Promotions are now beginning for the fight between David Haye Vs Jon Ruiz. Ruiz is the mandatory challenger for the WBA Heavyweight Title which David Haye won from Nikolai Valuev. John Ruiz is a former two time heavyweight champion, and as much as everyone thinks there will only be one outcome in this fight (A David Haye KO), you can not write off a seasoned veteran like John Ruiz. He holds a win over Evander Holyfield and has also beat other decent heavyweights, one being the man that once knocked out heavyweight king Lennox Lewis, and that's none other then Hasim Rahman. John Ruiz is said to already be training hard for this fight, he knows this is probably his last chance for a shot at a heavyweight title. So we can expect him to give this fight his all. One thing about Ruiz is that he always comes to fight.
David Haye can not take this fight lightly, if he loses to John Ruiz what a set back that would be. He would have a long journey back to the top of the heavyweight division. Not that i think David Haye will lose, but there is always that sense of uncertainty because of David Hayes punch resistance. It has been questionable against opponents in lower weight classes, so against the heavyweights it remains to be seen whether he can take the power or not. But this is what makes David Haye so exciting, he even admits himself that he might be in trouble if he gets caught with a big shot. Half of the viewers that tune in to watch David Haye fight tune in for that very reason. He might knock someone out, or get knocked out himself. Excitement and a little chance taking is what the heavyweight division needs, someone that's willing to have a good fight, and get involved rather then always playing it safe. I would love Haye to beat Ruiz then go on to face Vitali later on in the year.
At the first press conference held in the UK, John Ruiz did not turn up. He did apologise for not being at the press conference in an interview he done for Sky Sports. Ruiz confirmed he is training hard for this fight and didn't want to go through the traveling to get to the UK, with the long flight, and time difference to disrupt his routine. There have been some insults traded between David Haye and John Ruiz, Basically there both calling each other boring..Ruiz said "Haye's calling me boring! How many punches did Haye throw per round in his last fight against Valuev, and he's calling me boring!"

Ricky Hatton Making A Boxing Comeback
Ricky Hatton Making A Boxing Comeback
Ricky Hatton this week confirmed that he is making a comeback to the ring, and will have his comeback fight at some point in 2010. At the moment he does look quite out of shape, he also looks rather unhealthy looking in the face. I beleive this shows the extent of Ricky's unhealthy lifestyle when he's not in training for a fight. It's a scarey thought to think of him in 10 years time, when he is completely retired from the ring.
There are more people who think Ricky Hatton should stay retired rather then make a comeback, and im one of them. As much as i like Ricky, you would have to be blind to think that he can comeback to boxing and be better then he ever was. Is Ricky Hatton past his best? I think almost everyone would say yes he is. His fights against the best were crushing defeats, yes they were at the hands of the two best in the world, but they were still bad knockout defeats.
Watching some of Ricky Hattons recent interviews has made me think that he is just kidding himself. Ricky Hatton has made every excuse under the sun regarding both his losses against Pacman and Mayweather. He has given every excuse, other then blame himself, which is why i say he's kidding himself. He's even said that the only people who want him to stay retired are the armchair fans that know nothing about boxing, and have only watched the 2 round defeat he suffered at the hands of against Manny Pacquiao!. I do not think that is the case. Hardcore Hatton fans want him to stay retired, all the boxing writers, current boxers, even many ex-boxers think he should just call it a day, surely they know the boxing game.
Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin, no one is to blame for those two losses except Ricky Hatton's skill level, fighting style, lifestyle when not fighting, and his own preperations in the lead up to the fights. The truth is, Ricky Hatton is not up there with the elite fighters, twice he has tried and twice he has failed. To keep fighting on is not in his best interests.
That's not to say he wasn't, or still isn't a world class fighter, and probably still could compete at that level. I'm sure he could step in the ring and mix it up with some of the good fighters currently out there in the light welterweight division. But i just fear that Ricky's punch resistance is slipping, and once that starts to become apparent it's a good idea to get out of the boxing ring, call it a day, and be happy that you got out with a nice sum of money, a good taste of glory, and all your wits still about you.
This is all about Ricky Hatton, and how he feels mentally, he has far more that he needs to prove to himself then to anyone else. Walking away from the sport after such a bad loss is never what he imagined would happen. He's been a good champion, he's got pride, and he just can't walk away and leave on such a low. Every boxer would feel the same, some know when to call it a day and some carry on boxing for too long. Sadly, boxing on, fighting past your sell by date can have life changing consequences, Freddy Roach and Muhammad Ali found this out the hard way, and now have to cope with permanent illness stemming from boxing on for too long.
Ricky Hattons style is the worse kind of style to make comebacks with, he gets hit far too often. He's a face first brawler, and my only hope is that he makes his comeback, has one fight, wins in style and retires after that one fight.
Ricky Hattons safety is the most important thing, and i would hate for him to get hurt badly, or even lose by knockout to a young up and coming fighter, I'd be sad to see him tarnished like that. Theres no shame in losing to the best two boxers in the world, but i fear if he carrys on fighting, he will lose to someone that wouldn't of lasted more then 8 rounds with him a few years ago. He's a great guy with great character, and im sure in time he will become a great boxing promoter.
I wish him the best of luck in his comeback fight.

Manny Pacquiao Vs Joshua Clottey: Bye Mayweather
Manny Pacquiao Vs Joshua Clottey: Bye Mayweather
Well, the talks between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are well and truely dead. Both camps cannot see eye to eye, hence why their going their seperate ways, fighting other fighters. I can see from both sides of the fence why each fighter does not want to give in to the other. Manny knows he's clean and see's it as Mayweathers taking libertys, making unreasonable demands. And Floyd is thinking, why won't he take the test if he has nothing to hide..
I don't want to get into a debate with who's right and who's wrong, but i must admit, neither fighter looks good after this. Floyd Mayweather Jr is being looked at by all the boxing fans, boxers, critics, reporters, and everyone else as a chicken. Everyone's thinking, why is he demanding this testing if he's not scared of fighting Manny Pacquiao..He's never demanded this in previous fights.
On to Manny Pacquiao, many people including, Mayweather fans, millions of youtube users, reporters, real boxers - mentioning no names..They all think that Manny Pacquiao could possibly have something to hide..Many people are asking the same question, why would you turn down the biggest fight in history because of a blood test, specially if you have nothing to hide.
Teddy Atlas said that one of his trusted sources said he seen emails sent by someone in the Manny Pacquiao camp asking that if Manny took the blood tests and tested positive, could it be kept quiet..I don't know if there is any truth in this, but that is what was claimed to have been asked in an email.
We could go round in circles all day trying to decide who's in the right, it's best to just leave it and move on. The fights not happening and that's that.
Manny Pacquiao takes on Joshua Clottey. I see this fight ending in just one way, a points win for Manny Pacquiao. I seriously doubt that he will knock Clottey out. Clottey's a tough, durable guy, who takes a punch well, but is too slow to beat Manny Pacquiao to the punch. All Manny Pacquiao has to do is stick and move for the whole 12 rounds. If Manny Pacquiao stands toe to toe with Joshua Clottey he could be in trouble. Manny Pacquiao and Freddy Roach know, Clottey is too slow hand and foot to compete with Manny, so they will stick and move, jumping in, punching, jumping out, before Clottey gets time to counter punch. Manny Pacquiao is the master of using this strategy, and i expect him to use it to perfection.
But then again, we all know that Manny sometimes want's to get involved and have a tear up, if he does this against Clottey, he will be giving Clottey his only chance to win. Make no mistake, Clottey is a world class fighter, a good, strong, very game opponent. But Manny is an elite fighter, on top of his game, and at his peak, that's the difference in this fight.
I look forward to a great fight!
Who does Floyd Mayweather fight? I don't know for sure..There was talk of him fighting Paulie Malignaggi, but nothing is confirmed. Stay tuned.

Talks Between Mayweather Pacquiao To Continue
Talks Between Mayweather Pacquiao To Continue
There may be a small chance of hope that this fight will still take place. Both camps will be meeting up in California to try and talk through some kind of agreement or common ground, so that the fight can take place. There is too much money at stake for this fight not to be given every chance of happening.
I am getting a bit sick of it though now, all the yes, it's on, then, no it's off. It's getting annoying.
Pacquiao and his camp want an apology from the Mayweather camp for the false speculations against him taking steroids. The best thing for Floyd and his camp is to just swallow their pride and apologise for the accusations and move forward. Let the Nevada commission handle the drug/steroid testing. And both fighters just get in the best shape of their lives, ready to fight the fight of their lives.
We will have to wait and see how the meeting goes. Providing each camp can be fair with the other, and don't want rules / terms put in place that are not reasonable, i see no reason why this fight cannot take place.
Updated
Yet again, the meeting between both camps has taken place, but they could not reach an agreement. Talks have broken down, and Manny has had enough and is moving on, to most probably fighting Yuri Foreman.
Floyd Mayweather might be fighting Paulie Malignaggi. I wonder if Floyd will demand the same drug testing from him that he was wanting from Manny..

Manny Pacquiao To Face Joshua Clottey On March 13
This fight isn't confirmed, but it looks very possible to get the go-ahead for March 13. This should be a good fight. Clottey is a solid boxer, never been on the canvas. Floyd Mayweather was feeling left out!, saying he was disgusted with Manny Pacquiao and his representatives..He sounded as if he was totally gutted because Manny Pacquiao has moved on to face someone else. Floyd thought they needed him badly, would wait around, and be messed about forever..Looks like they just had enough. Floyd missed out, his tactics didn't work.
