Vitali Klitschko Knocks Out Solis

Vitali Klitschko Knocks Out Odlanier Solis

Vitali Klitschko makes another successful defense of his WBC title by stopping Odlanier Solis in the 1st round. The fight had barely got started when Solis lunged at Vitali with two punches that missed. In the process of throwing the last of the two punches Vitali landed a nice little counter punch that caught Solis on the side of his head / temple. It was clear to see that this punch wobbled Solis very badly, taking away his balance, you could see that it made him very dizzy! Down Solis went, hitting the canvas and holding his knee.

Solis twisted his knee in the process of either throwing his own punches or from Vitali's perfectly timed counter punch. Solis looked devastated after the fight. The fans were booing...Which is very odd for German fans, they expected a bit more of a fight. I think everyone did!

Very quick win for Vitali.

Vitali Beats Solis

This fight is considered as the toughest matchup for Vitali Klitscko since he fought Lennox Lewis. I do agree that this is a good fighter that Vitali is facing, but I don't think he's the best or most awkward that Vitali has faced since Lennox Lewis. And even if it was, Vitali was younger when he fought Lennox, but far less confident and far less experienced then he is now. I think Vitali is better now then he was when he fought Lennox, the only thing that's not on his side is his age.

Will Vitali's age catch up with him in this fight?

I do think that Vitali still has a few big fights left in him. He prepares very well for each fight, and no doubt he has watched tapes on Solis's style and has come up with a good fight strategy to beat him. This will be a hard fight for Vitali, Solis is a good fighter, his Amatuer boxing victorys are impressive, he even holds wins over Ibragimov, David Haye, and Felix Savon.

However, looking at Solis in the build up to this fight, he is quite fat for his height and frame. Everyone thought he would probably shed a lot of weight and be in excellent condition for this fight, but it doesn't look like he has. Since he's put on weight as a Pro he has become rather slow with his movement and much more easier to hit then when he was an amatuer. I see him being very game and willing to fight, but taking a big beating in the process.

Any heavyweight, no matter who it is, can not take huge punches from Vitali in every round without there being some damage. And with Solis's plodding style he's going to eat some leather in this fight.

Prediction

Solis to get knocked out late in the fight. Or pulled out by his corner.

David Haye To Fight Wladimir Klitschko

David Haye To Fight Wladimir Klitschko In July 2011

At long last, pen has actually been put to paper and the contract has been signed. We can expect David Haye Vs Wladimir Klitschko to take place on either July 2nd or July 25th 2011. If, for any reason, Wladimir pulls out of the fight, David Haye will fight Vitali instead. This is a clause in the contract, so whatever happens Haye is going to fight at least one of the Klitschko brothers before he retires in October 2011.

This fight was worth too much money for it not to happen, and it's a fight that everyone wants to see. Other then the Pacquiao Vs Mayweather Jr match up, Haye Vs Wladimir is the biggest and most important fight out there.

David Haye, so far has always come out on top when the odds are stacked against him. He seems to thrive on the extra pressure. In Hayes fight against Mormeck, he went to the champions back yard and showed an impressive will to win. Haye was put on the canvas but managed to get up and go on to knock Mormeck out, basically becoming the Unified Cruiser Weight Champion of the world in the process.

Again, when Haye faced the Russian Giant Valuev, he went over to Germany and won the fight, becoming the WBA Heavyweight Champion. Fair enough, it was a boring fight in many ways, and some say that the decision was not fair. But this is boxing, a wins a win, and Haye did box the style of fight he needed to against such a mountain of a man.

David Haye travels very well, and I don't think that this fight being held in Germany will faze Haye at all. However, I do think that David Haye will have to be at his best to beat Wladimir in Germany come fight night. Wladimir is the favorite to win the fight, but I think it's a more even match up then most people think. David Haye stands a very good chance of beating Wladimir by knockout.

David Hayes main focus in training will be to practise getting past that superb jab of Wladimirs. The "Mike Tyson" style of bobbing and weaving, with side to side movement would work perfectly against Wladimirs jab. Haye needs to adopt that type of boxing style to get past the jab in this fight.

Saul Alvarez Beats Matthew Hatton

Saul Alvarez Beats Matthew Hatton

"Canelo" Alvarez is the new WBC Light Middleweight Champion after convincingly beating Matthew Hatton to score a unanimous decision on the score cards.

The decision was spot on, Alvarez  was clearly the stronger and more accurate puncher. There were moments in the fight where Hatton was in trouble, and it looked like he wouldn't see it through to the last bell. But credit to Matthew Hatton, he really showed great heart and courage. No doubt, he came to win, but it wasn't going to happen. Alvarez was never bothered or hurt by any of Matthews punches, even though Matthew did land a lot of punches on Alvarez.

That was the difference in this fight, Alvarez was able to just walk through Hatton, knowing he didn't have the power to hurt him. Where as Hatton was getting caught clean and hurt with punches, making him back up, hold to survive, and stay on the outside.

Saul Alvarez is there to be hit, his defense needs a lot of work, he was caught with clean punches again and again. He is very static and seems to just be more intent on landing his own punches rather then avoiding the ones coming back at him. The slick boxers will be lining up to fight Alvarez, he is easy to hit, and I see him getting beat at some point while defending the WBC Light Middle Weight Title. Unless GoldenBoy match him very carefully..
