Wladimir Klitschko Calls Out David Haye

Wladimir Klitschko Calls Out David Haye

Wladimir has recently released a video clip he made of himself calling out David Haye. I think this was a great move, with good potential for pumping some much needed excitement back into the heavyweight division. Calling out David Haye was also very good thinking from Wladimir. It's usually David Haye doing the "calling out", and this time Wladimir has beaten him to it. Great psychological tactics by Wladimir.

Will David Haye take the bait?

I think he has to, the video that Wladimir made is now viral on the internet, that means it's on every single video website, including Youtube and Google video with the views into the hundreds of thousands already. If Haye doesn't accept this challenge, specially after many people are already accusing him of ducking the Klitschko's twice already, he will lose a lot of credibility. There are mandatory challenges, and also rematch claws in the way of both fighters before they can face each other, but nothing a pay off couldn't sort out to get this much awaited fight up and running. After being let down twice already in the past for whatever the reasons in regards to both Vitali and Wladimir confirmed to be fighting David Haye, I think the fans deserve to see David Haye, once and for all, fight one of the Klitschko's.

We might get a response in video form from David Haye, we'll have to wait and see. If this fight can finally be made it would be huge! Heavyweight boxing needs this fight.

David Haye Stops John Ruiz In Round 9

David Haye Stops John Ruiz In Round 9

David Haye stops John Ruiz in the 9th round after Ruiz's corner throw in the towel, not wanting their man to take any more punishment. It was a very exciting fight with Haye knocking Ruiz down several times in the fight, one knock down coming in the very first round with a one-two combination that Ruiz didn't see coming. It looked like the fight could be all over, but Ruiz showed true survival skills and thoughness. Ruiz showed why he has won the heavyweight title two times before, not through his skill so much, as he is pretty average in all departments, but through his durability, determination, and thoughness. You have to take your hat off and show Ruiz some respect due to how game he was, Ruiz did, as always, come to fight.

David Haye's power was impressive, knocking Ruiz down 4 times in all. Haye has now shown that he has carried his power up to heavyweight, and can knock a genuinely tough heavyweight down. I was a little concerned about Haye's stamina as he looked very tired after the second round, but he seemed to get his second wind, and work behind the jab, slowing things down a bit to control the pace of the fight.

David Haye could now be fighting one of the Klitschko's this year (2010), if negotiations go well.

Abraham Disqualified Against Dirrell

Abraham Disqualified Against Dirrell

Dirrell Wins By Disqualification

This was a very shocking fight, one that i did say could end in a shock defeat, just like the Kessler Vs Ward match. Andre Dirrell fought a great fight, he was moving and placing his punches extremely well, also dodging many of the counter punches from Abraham. The fighter considered as the big puncher before the match was basically hitting air for most of the fight, and when he did land, Dirrell took most of the punches well. The guy not considered a big puncher (Dirrell) actually had Abraham is trouble a few times, even knocking him down with a big punch in the 4th round, although Abraham was off balance. However, it was still a very nice punch.

Arthur Abraham was waiting too long, he covered up with his peek a boo defense for most of the fight, letting Dirrell throw a lot of punches, winning almost every round with accuracy, good boxing skills, and sheer work rate. Abraham was too slow to deal with the super slick movement of Dirrell. The only time Abraham was able to land punches was when he managed to pin Dirrell on the ropes, but that was not often enough to win many rounds. Abraham suffered a cut eye in the fight, and maybe this did affect him slightly, but he really was getting beat pretty convincingly from the start.

As the fight went on Abraham was looking more anxious, and more desperate to get the knockout which he said he would get throughout the build up to this fight. He knew he was miles behind on the score cards, and in the 10th round he did start to catch Dirrell more. In the 11th Abraham caught Dirrell with a straight right hand, which did connect, but was more of a slip, which made Dirrell bend over as if he was going to take a count, but as he was in the crouched position, Abraham landed one huge punch to the jaw that had a delayed reaction on Dirrell, and after a few seconds Dirrell went from sitting on the canvas, to lying down, totally knocked out cold.

Some people were saying Dirrell was lying, faking it because he knew he was getting caught with more punches, and seen this as an opportunity to get out of the fight. Who knows for sure...But one thing is certain, Dirrell was caught with a big punch, and afterwards he was very confused and looked like he had concusion. I just hope he is OK, and gets himself checked out ASAP at the hosiptal. Needless to say, Abraham was disqualified for hitting a downed opponent. In my opinion, it was just in the heat of the moment why Abraham landed the second punch. He seen he had Dirrell in trouble from the first punch, and his instinct just took over and landed the second punch.

But Dirrell really fought a great fight, his fast hands and slick footwork were too much for Abraham to cope with. He never gave Abraham many chances to plant his feet so he could get his shots off, keeping him very busy with movement and trying to block punches.

Andre Dirrell proved he belongs at world level in this fight. Very impressive boxing skills.

Arthur Abraham will fight Carl Froch next, and Andre Dirrell will meet Andre Ward in the next stage of the super six tournament.

Arthur Abraham Vs Andre Dirrell

Arthur Abraham Vs Andre Dirrell

This fight is a superb clash of styles. The super six boxing tournament has been very good so far, with some great fights, and also a shocking defeat with Kessler getting beaten the way he did. No one was expecting that to happen. This fight between "King" Arthur Abraham and Andre "The Matrix" Dirrel has the same potential to end in a shock defeat. It's a similar match up to the Ward Vs Kessler, the big puncher that likes to stand and fight Vs the slick boxer. Abraham is the power puncher, and Dirrell is the slick boxer. I do think Dirrell has a good chance of handing Abraham his first loss, only because of his very awkward style. He will hit and move around the ring all night, which could frustrate Abraham to the point where he starts making mistakes, gets caught more, and loses on points.

However, Abraham is not just a big puncher, he has some very good boxing skills as well, and he also posseses a rock solid chin and a brilliant boxing brain. Arthur Abraham is a true warrior, fighting in one boxing match he suffered a broken jaw early on, and actually fought through the pain and went on to win the fight on points. He really is one of the toughest boxers in the world. Not many fighters would of been able to carry on fighting with a broken jaw, but Abraham refuses to lose, and always finds a way to win.

Andre Dirrell has all the tools needed to become a world champion. He has excellent boxing skills, movement, speed, and great combinations. The only things he doesn't have at the moment are experience at world level and confidence. These two qualitys will come in time, and I'm sure he will get his chance to shine in the future. In the fight against Carl Froch you could see that Dirrell had potential, but he ran too much and was too negative. As if he would do anything not to get hit, but that won't win you many fights, not on the score cards anyway.

I expect the same type of fight tactics from Dirrell in this fight against Abraham. Dirrell will hit and move, but i sense Abraham will set some traps and end up catching Dirrell with some huge punches as he comes lunging in. Can he take the strength and power of Abraham? Can Dirrell hit and move for the whole 12 rounds against the super tough, super patient Abraham..If so he will win this fight on points. Dirrell has to be careful not to get over excited, he has to stay calm and not gas himself out, because Abrahams stamina is superb and he comes on strong in the later rounds.

Prediction: As much as i want Arthur Abraham to win, i have to remind myself that styles make fights, and Abrahams style is perfect for Dirrell to look good against. I see Dirrell peppering Abraham with his jab and move style, giving Abraham his first loss with a unanimous points decision on the score cards.

Please prove me wrong Abraham!

Audley Harrison To Fight Sprott

Audley Harrison To Fight Sprott

After the fight against Albert Sosnowski fell through, Audley Harrison will now be facing Michael Sprott for the vacant European Heavyweight Title. Sprott does hold a knockout win over Audley, and should be very confident of doing the same again. Last time, i feel that Sprott got the knockout with a lucky punch (if there is such thing), due to the fact that Audley underestimated Sprott and thought he could go in there with hands down and guns blazing. This time i think Audley will do the complete opposite. He will have learnt his lesson from last time, and will look to keep the fight at a distance, behind the jab, where he is in control.

Michael Sprott cannot be taken lightly, winning this fight would catapult him back on to the world boxing stage, being the holder of the European belt, and also in line for a shot at one of the big world heavyweight titles somewhere down the line. Sprott will be giving this fight his all. If he does land a big punch it's all over for Audley, just like last time. Audley has also stated that if he cannot beat Sprott this time out, he will retire from boxing. So everything is on the line for Audley. Sprott does have an awkward style, and likes to get in close, which could cause problems for Audley. But something tells me that Audley will be at his best for this fight, and will win by a stoppage.
