Manny Pacquiao Beats Oscar De La Hoya In 8 Rounds
This was one of the most shocking fights i have seen in a vey long time. Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De La Hoya was considered by most as an easy fight for Oscar De La Hoya! Many people said Oscar is just too big and strong, no one thought about Oscar turning up and not really throwing any punches!! Well thats what happened.
Manny Pacquiao Totally dominated this fight from start to finish, it was so one sided that Oscar De La Hoya's cornermen stopped the fight at the end of the 8th round, with Oscars eye very swollen. He's face looked like he had been fighting a heavyweight.
From the start Oscar De La Hoya just wasn't throwing enough punches, looking confused with Manny Pacquiao's speed and elusive style. Manny Pacquiao was beating him to the punch on every exchange, moving in and out too quick for De La Hoya.
We all thought Oscars power would be a big factor, but the truth is he hardly connected with manny all night, and when he did Manny Pacquiao done a good job of covering up and taking the shots well, or simply moving out the way. Mannys head movement was superb.
In my honest opinion, Oscar De La Hoya did not turn up on fight night for whatever reason, either that or he is finished and should call it a day. Not taking anything away from Manny Pacquiao, he fought a perfect fight, but he wasn't tested at all.
I don't think no one expected Oscar De La Hoya to get totally dominated like that, we at least expected a more even fight. For Oscar De La Hoya to be ok with the decision to end the fight after 8 Rounds was quite sad, even his corner men said theres nothing you can do to stop Manny.
For Manny Pacquiao the future is bright, he will now almost certainly face Ricky Hatton at Wembley Stadium in London England for a super fight that will be a total sell out.
The futures not too bad for Oscar De La Hoya either, he is worth well over 100 Million dollars (that's a low estimate) and he earned round about 25-30 Million for this fight alone so hey, the Golden Boy's done good.
Im sure he will fight again at some point.
Manny Pacquiao did not get tested in this fight but im sure when he faces Ricky Hatton he will be.

Pacman rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how many great fighters do you need Pacquiao to beat before you finally feel he's been tested?
I think the writer means this was the fight that was supposed to be the biggest test for manny, the toughest of he's career but yet it was one of his easiest wins. No one is saying he isnt great, he is one of the best in the world, people would be blind not to relaise that. He has been tested in the past but not in this fight.
OMG Oscar is no more.

Oh, and Great win for pacman
Point well taken Duke. I guess i am just tired of people analyzing this from the point of view of what the loser did wrong or didnt do instead of what the winner did right. DLH is still a great fighter and i sincerely believe he still has a couple of good years in him.. Pacman just had the answers and fought a very intelligent fight, thanks to F Roach.
Pacman is definately the POUND FOR POUND NUMBER 1!!!
it just seems to me that pacquiao has gotten so good in the last couple of years that hes been making his opponents look slow and sluggish, his blinding speed mixed with power and incredible pin point accuracy has made him pound for pound top boxer in the world no questions asked. if anyone thinks for one second that Ricky Hatten isnt going to be beaten to a pulp before the end of the fight if he does in fact fight Pacquiao is crazy. What this fight has proven isnt that De la Hoya is washed up but that Pacquiao is just that damn good ..... If anything, Mayweather should be coming out of retirement and fight the Pacman.
That is a good point Allister. But i think most would agree Oscar is well past his best.
de la hoya is a f**_^n sellout.. he purposely stayed in the corner at the 7th round without punchin back. makin so obvious.
Told Yall
Hatton Pacman should be fight of 2009!
Pacman is the main man. What a great guy too. Manny is such a good example of someone that came from a poor background and made it to the top. He even lost a few times at the start of his career, getting knocked out, and came back to be considered p4p number 1 in the world. He refused to give up and it worked for him. That shows who he is, what a great guy.
I agree. Manny is the man, man. lol
pikachoo will lose to cotto.
he didnt lose to cotto hahahahaha
Freddy Roach is the best trainer in the world. The transformation he acomplished with Manny Pacquiao is remarkable.
No doubt it was there already waiting to be uncovered, Mannys talents i mean.
