Promotions are now beginning for the fight between David Haye Vs Jon Ruiz. Ruiz is the mandatory challenger for the WBA Heavyweight Title which David Haye won from Nikolai Valuev. John Ruiz is a former two time heavyweight champion, and as much as everyone thinks there will only be one outcome in this fight (A David Haye KO), you can not write off a seasoned veteran like John Ruiz. He holds a win over Evander Holyfield and has also beat other decent heavyweights, one being the man that once knocked out heavyweight king Lennox Lewis, and that's none other then Hasim Rahman. John Ruiz is said to already be training hard for this fight, he knows this is probably his last chance for a shot at a heavyweight title. So we can expect him to give this fight his all. One thing about Ruiz is that he always comes to fight.

David Haye can not take this fight lightly, if he loses to John Ruiz what a set back that would be. He would have a long journey back to the top of the heavyweight division. Not that i think David Haye will lose, but there is always that sense of uncertainty because of David Hayes punch resistance. It has been questionable against opponents in lower weight classes, so against the heavyweights it remains to be seen whether he can take the power or not. But this is what makes David Haye so exciting, he even admits himself that he might be in trouble if he gets caught with a big shot. Half of the viewers that tune in to watch David Haye fight tune in for that very reason. He might knock someone out, or get knocked out himself. Excitement and a little chance taking is what the heavyweight division needs, someone that's willing to have a good fight, and get involved rather then always playing it safe. I would love Haye to beat Ruiz then go on to face Vitali later on in the year.

At the first press conference held in the UK, John Ruiz did not turn up. He did apologise for not being at the press conference in an interview he done for Sky Sports. Ruiz confirmed he is training hard for this fight and didn't want to go through the traveling to get to the UK, with the long flight, and time difference to disrupt his routine. There have been some insults traded between David Haye and John Ruiz, Basically there both calling each other boring..Ruiz said "Haye's calling me boring! How many punches did Haye throw per round in his last fight against Valuev, and he's calling me boring!"
