David Price Stops Matt Skelton
In what turned out to be another early night for David Price, he ends up stopping Matt Skelton in 2 rounds with Skelton not putting up that much resistance. I expected more of Matt Skelton as in previous fights he has been very durable and always comes to fight. However, age has caught up with him. He is now 45 years old and hasn't been the most active of fighters in recent years. And with a prospect like David Price, people were giving him a slim to no chance of causing an upset.
Skelton did connect with a few over hand punches that landed flush in the face of Price but he was able to effectively tie Skelton up and seemed to take the punches well. The end came with a David Price body shot that sent Skelton to the canvas.
An offer of £650,000 was made after the fight to Tyson Fury and his camp to accept a fight against Price. But these two seem to be moving in different directions right now, and it seems like Price and Fury will fight at some point because there is just too much interest in the fight, just not right now.
So David Price remains unbeaten and now the attention moves over to Tyson Fury who takes on Kevin "King Pin" Johnson tomorrow night. This will be an interesting fight with the winner in line for a shot at the WBC Title that is currently held by Vitali Klitschko. There has been a few comments that Kevin Johnson is not in shape for this fight, and even some of Kevin Johnson's own radio comments have implied that he hasn't had much training for this fight. Hopefully Tyson Fury, as I'm sure he will be, is fully aware of this and takes full advantage by using his height and weight to tire Johnson out for the first few rounds and then start applying the pressure when Johnson tires out. Kevin Johnson has a really good defense, he is very hard to hit cleanly. Just look at his fight against Vitali Klitschko, although he didn't go there to win he hardly got hit clean all night.

Boxer George Groves Answers Questions
Sportsvibe caught up with boxer George Groves and asked him some interesting questions about training and exercise. One of the questions was: How many press ups can you do without stopping. George Groves said he has done around 250 in one go. That's very impressive. George Groves is taking on "The Road Warrior", Glen Johnson in his next fight. Glen Johnson is one of my favourite fighters. He's such a solid workhorse and a consumate professional, it's just a shame he is now at the end, or coming near to the end of his boxing career. Don't write him off though, he has pulled an upset more then once. Should be a good fight.

Wlad Klitschko Mariusz Wach Weigh In
Both fighters look in great shape. And it should be an interesting fight. However, Wladimir should be a little too sharp and powerful for Wach. Mariusz Wach is a decent fighter but he is fairly slow hand and foot. He should land a few punches though which could make a good fight. These are big men and one punch can change a fight. Wladimir doesn't have the best chin either. Don't miss it.

Wladimir Klitschko Vs Wach Staredown
Neither fighter wanted to be the first to look away so a poster was put in front of their faces to end the staredown. It seems a little strange to see Wladimir Klitschko looking up at an opponent. I bet it feels weird for Wladimir too. It should be a decent fight, and with Emanuel Stewards passing it makes people wonder how switched on Wladimir is for this fight. Will it effect Wladimir's performance and focus. We will see. Don't miss this fight. Mariusz Wach is a big lump and I doubt Wladimir will come out of this fight without a scratch. He will have to take a few punches in this fight.

Mariusz Wach Bag Work For Klitschko
Mariusz Wach does some training on the punch bag in preparation for his big fight against Wladimir Klitschko. Wach does some target practise by having the heads of both Klitschko brothers printed on the punch bag. If he lands as many punches in the fight as he does here to the Klitschko's head he would be doing well. Bags don't hit back, but I'm sure Wladimir will be.

Tyson Fury Vs Denis Boytsov
Update: Fight has been canceled.
Boytsov claimed he is not in shape to fight.
Tyson Fury takes his biggest risk to date by signing to fight one of the more decent up and coming heavyweight prospects to come through over the last few years. Whether Tyson Fury wins or loses, credit has to be given to him for taking this fight. Unbeaten Denis Boytsov is without doubt Fury's toughest fight so far, and it's a big step up in class for Fury, who has been fighting fairly low level opposition for a while. In all fairness Fury has only had 19 fights so we can't really expect him to take on the world just yet. However, a step up in opposition was due, and here it is. We could well see Tyson Fury get outclassed in this fight. Is this fight too big of a risk for Fury to be taking with less then 20 fights under his belt. We shall see. But with the chance of a world title shot in line for the winner it's a chance worth taking.
Tyson Fury is fortunate that this fight is taking place in Belfast, so he has home advantage. Fury will need every advantage possible in order for him to stand a chance of beating Boytsov. Going into this fight out of shape is a definite no no for Fury. He will need to be in better shape then he's ever been in before. Not only are two unbeaten records on the line, but this fight could lead to a real title shot against one of the Klitschko brothers so everything is up for grabs. It looks more likely that the winner will face Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight title. Punch resistance is going to be a big issue for Tyson Fury in the fight. Boytsov has an 80% knockout ratio.
One advantage Tyson fury does have is his size. Boytsov is a small heavyweight, and even smaller in comparison to Fury. So this is Fury's biggest weapon and he must use it to full effect. He needs to use a Wladimir Klitschko style in order to win this fight. Use his jab and reach to keep the fight at a distance. Once the distance has been closed by Boytsov Fury is in danger of being knocked out. Boytsov can bang, and as we have seen in Tyson Fury's past fights he is very open to over hand punches and has been floored quite a few times against a level of opposition that doesn't even come close to the skill, power and precision of Denis Boytsov. If Boytsov floors Fury the fight could well be over. Denis Boytsov is a terrific finisher and does not let a hurt opponent off the hook. He may hang back and be patient in order to be careful, but he will viciously close the show when the opportunity presents itself.
Tyson Fury fans can only hope that Boytsov is out of his element fighting in Belfast and doesn't perform very well. This is very possible because most of his fights have been in Germany. None have been in the USA or UK. So this will be a new experience for Boytsov. How he performs being away from his adopted home of Germany, in front of a hostile crowd is yet to be seen. I get the feeling though that Boytsov will rise to the occasion. He seems very strong mentally and the type of guy that will be all business, far too focused on getting the win and securing a title shot then to be phased and not perform.
It should be a very good fight between a really big heavyweight with fast hands for his size, limited boxing skills, and a size and weight advantage over most of his opponents. Against a small heavyweight, who looked rather flat in his last fight against Dominick Guinn, and also out of his comfort zone fighting in Belfast, but with good boxing skills and big punching power.

Wladimir Talks About Emanuel Steward
Update: Manuel Steward has passed away. He died on Thurday afternoon (today). Big loss to the boxing world. R.I.P Emanuel Steward.
Despite all the reports doing the rounds that Emanuel Steward has died, at the time this post was written Emanuel Steward is not dead. He is very ill and under the care of the best doctors, but he is not dead. I'm surprised that some of the biggest news networks have reported that Emanuel Steward is dead when they haven't found out for sure all the facts of the matter. From what I can gather he is not dead but will not be returning to boxing training if he makes a successful recovery.
Wladimir Klitschko is obviously upset by this incident as he has been trained by Emanuel Steward for many years and the pair are close. However, Wladimir being the true professional that he is says - The show must go on. I think that's what Emanuel Steward would want. Get well soon Emanuel Steward.

Tyson Fury Vs David Price Heating Up
Tyson Fury and David Price have been linked as foes ever since their amateur days. Tyson Fury did knock David Price to the canvas in the amateurs, but Price came back to win the bout. Their has been talk of Price and Fury fighting as professionals ever since the pair both turned Pro, but it has been simmering for a few years.
Attention was focused on the pair again when Tyson Fury vacated his British titles rather then fight his mandatory challenger, who just happened to be David Price. This raised many questions. People started saying that Tyson Fury was afraid to fight David Price so instead he would vacate the titles. Tyson Fury stated that his reason for vacating the titles was so that he could go after bigger and better things. Fury also said fighting some Southern Area champion (David Price) would achieve nothing.. Personally I don't see how it would achieve nothing. Two of the most promising up and coming British heavyweights fighting for the British titles sounds like a good match up to me. Add to it that Price beat Fury in the Amateurs and you would think that Fury would want revenge and redemption, but obviously not. It does look like he avoided Price on Purpose.
So Tyson Fury vacates the titles to go after the bigger names in order to get a better world ranking and make sure he's heading in a positive direction towards a shot at a world title. So what does he do, he fights a 40 year old Martin Rogan for the Irish title. It's hard to see it any other way other then Fury avoided fighting David Price.
So where does the feud stand today. After Price demolished Audley Harrison in 1 round the talk about Fury fighting Price has flared up again. Not only are people calling Tyson Fury scared, but now the talk has turned pretty mean and personal. Insults aimed at Tyson Fury's wife and family have been doing the rounds online. Not written by Price, but his fans and followers. This has made Fury Furious. He was interviewed on Channel 5 not long after the comments were made and had a hard time keeping himself composed. It was clear to see that he's not happy with either David Price, his fans, and also boxer and close friend to David Price, Tony Bellew. Fury said he'd batter Bellew in between rounds for what he's said so he's clearly not happy with whatever Bellew has been saying.
With all the silly insults aside this fight makes sense in many ways. First and foremost, the British public want to see this fight, that means it would be good for the fans and it would generate a lot of money. Second, both have questionable punch resistance. Tyson Fury has been down numerous times against low level opposition, and Price has been classed as "chinny" since being stopped a few times in the amateurs and not really being tested as a professional in that department yet. It makes for an interesting fight. Tyson Fury said that Price was stiff and robotic but from what Ive seen it's Fury who seems to be stiff, one dimensional, and less mobile.
Will the fight happen, who knows. If both keep on winning then they will be destined to meet at some point. Actually even if they both lose they could still end up fighting. Hopefully not years down the line. Just an example, but look at where we are in terms of Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. Not long ago people could not see this fight anywhere on their radar and now it's being talked about a lot. It's just a shame that Hatton and Khan could end up fighting when one (or both) are not in their primes anymore. It would be a shame if the same thing happened with Price and Fury.
If these two end up fighting I'd put my money on David Price. He's been very impressive so far and seems to be the one that has the potential to mix at world level.

Jon Jones Open Workout For UFC 152
Jon Jones goes through the motions in an open workout on the pads in preparation for his upcoming fight on Saturday against Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. Jon Jones looks impressive as usual. His punches look nice and sharp. Vitor is going to have to really bring it to stand a chance against Jones. I hope Vitor Belfort has a good game plan and is in fighting shape so that the fight is a little more competitive then most people think it will be.
UFC 152: Dana White On Jones Vs Belfort
Dana White makes his opinion known regarding Vitor Belfort stepping up to the plate to take on UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Dana White is far from happy with Lyoto Machida after Machida was given the chance to avenge his loss to Jon Jones and fight for the UFC title, but turned the offer down. Dana White also goes on to say that if people don't think Jones Vs Belfort is a good fight then don't watch it.
Personally I think it's a bit of a miss-match. A prime Jon Jones is just too good for anyone at the twilight of their fighting career. Watch out for the front kick to the face from Jon Jones in this fight.

Punching For Street Fighting Reality
Fighting on the street is not recommended. You should try to avoid a confrontation on the street as much as possible. Training in boxing or martial arts will help you in many situations, including a street fight. Thai Boxing, Boxing, Judo, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, all will help you, and by training in those arts most people will develop the mindset of trying to avoid a confrontation unless there is no other option but to defend themselves.
Obviously there are exceptions and some people want to learn Boxing or Martial arts for the wrong reasons. This post is not for promoting violence, It's for people that want to be prepared to defend themselves if the worst happens, and also to help in lessening the risk of injured hands in order to see a fight through to the end. In a street fight or self defence situation you need both hands, what if you throw a punch, land the punch incorrectly and can't use that hand again within the fight because it's swelled up like a balloon and hurting bad. You have just become hindered by injury, now your chances of coming out of that fight in one piece have been lowered considerably.
Some people say that you shouldn't punch in a street fight. In some ways this is good advice. One of the methods behind this madness is that your hands are not tough enough to withstand the force of punching someone in the face or head. Street fights are unpredictable and in the heat of the moment your punching can be wild. This means that in a real situation you won't be able to land the perfect punch every time. Sometimes you end up landing a punch and you will connect with the smallest two knuckles (The end two). Connecting with the last two knuckles on someones face bones, teeth, and specially the head will almost certainly result in those knuckles becoming instantly swollen. Connecting at funny angles with the weakest knuckles, hitting tough bones in the face, teeth and the head, will happen in a street fight that lasts longer then a few seconds.
In fact, even one punch can result in damage to your hand if you throw a punch and it doesn't land on target correctly. Using a flat palm can be a very effective strike in a street fight, along with elbows, kicks and knees. Using these less fragile parts of the body to strike with can obviously lessen the risk of injury to your hands. However, most peoples instinct is first and foremost to throw punches.
If you want to minimise the risk of injuring your hands in a street fight you have to make your hands and knuckles as tough as possible. Boxing training can help but in boxing you always wear gloves and hand wraps when punching anything. And as much as this will still make your hands reasonably tough, it will not help that much in a real street fight situation where you have no hand protection at your disposal and it's as real as it gets.
This is where we have to look to some of the training methods used in Karate. Certain forms of Karate dedicate big chunks of their training to making the hands and knuckles solid. If you have ever seen a true Karate practitioners hands that trains in the forms of Karate that have a focus on tough hands you will see what I mean. Their hands are solid, like a pair of weapons. Lump Hammers I call them. This type of Karate training focuses on self defence and has the objective of ending a confrontation with one, or several, solid, full force direct strikes. Also with Karate, the focus for some strikes is more on landing a strike / punch with the toughest two knuckles, the two closest to the thumb. If you can train, and make it Instinct to consistently strike and land the two hardest knuckles when you punch in a street fight you will reduce the risk of damaging your knuckles immensely. And at the same time do maximum damage.
In Karate the students will punch / strike some very solid objects like wooden boards, bricks, blocks, and wood with fabric wrapped around. A normal person wanting tougher knuckles and hands for self defence protection and reduced injury does not have to go to such extremes. A good heavy punch bag will do the trick. With one sacrifice, you have to punch it wearing no protection at all. Also, to be safe it's recommended that you start this type of training by punching the top (the softest and more hollow) part of the bag to begin with. Get your hands, wrists, and knuckles used to this first. After a while as your hands, wrists, and knuckles will get used to the solid impact. Your knuckles will start to become tougher.
After a while training like this adjust the height of the bag to make the bag higher, or hit your bag lower so that your now hitting the bottom of the bag, the toughest and most resistant part of the bag. With this training you would want to connect with the two weaker knuckles at times as well and not just focus on the two biggest and strongest. That's because in a street fight, no matter how good and accurate you can punch the chances are that you will connect with the weaker knuckles at some point. So it makes sense to focus on toughening the fists as a whole.
One method that can be beneficial for replicating punching in a street fight is to have a heavy punch bag which is not attached to the ceiling or hanging on a bracket. Place this bag on a ledge at a side angle. Then do up to 6 x 3 minute rounds of bare knuckle punches. Because the bag is at an angle it will get your wrists and knuckles used to landing punches at strange, awkward angles, like what will happen in the reality of a street fight.
Do not jump straight into doing this type of training if you haven't been doing any punching / striking training for a while. You have to work your hands up gradually before going full force at a heavy, barely movable, rock solid, punch bag bare knuckle. One word of warning: Do not use a canvas fabric type punch bag for any of these type of exercises, you will rip your hands to bits. Use a leather cow hide or plastic type material punch bag. Although nothing beats training with real training partners, a heavy, unattached punch bag is also great for strength exercises like lifts, squats, take down practise, and not forgetting ground and pound. Even basic ground fighting techniques like certain position transitions, side control striking, full mount fluency, triangle submission drills. But that's another post.
Nothing is definite and no matter how tough you make your hands it will still not be 100% that you will not injure one or both in a street fight. Street fights are just too unpredictable. But by training the hands in this manner you put better odds in your favour. I wish you every success in gaining your lump hammer fists. For defence purposes of course!

Ricky Hattons Ring Return Come Back
Come back Fight Date: November 24th 2012 against an opponent yet to be named.
As you might have already heard Ricky Hatton is making a comeback to the ring. His reasons for this are basically that he feels he has to put "old ghosts to rest". One of the main "old ghosts" is his devastating knockout defeat by Manny Pacquiao. Mentally that loss really shook Hatton up and it's quite possible that he actually needs to comeback just to ease his own mind and to be able to move forward in life feeling somewhat complete after finishing his return boxing career with a few wins to cushion the blow of past defeats. He needs to redeem himself. Even if the wins aren't against the elite fighters of his division. It's fully understandable. Who would want to end a successful boxing career on a second round 1 punch out cold knockout. Not many people.
The sad thing about his comeback is that Ricky Hatton does not want a few fights against domestic opposition and then just retire for good. He wants one or two warm ups and then he wants to fight against the elite fighters, maybe for a title. This is why many people are worried. Ricky Hatton does not live like a fighter. Actually he doesn't even live healthy when not in training. There are people saying they were out partying with Ricky Hatton in Tenerife no longer then a month ago. He has said himself he has had problems with drink and drugs over the last few years. Abuse and boxing P4P boxers for world titles don't mix well together.
All the bad living has took it's toll on Ricky Hatton, and yes he could get away with a bit of partying, eating junk and boozing here and there when he was younger and in his prime. But now, mid 30's, a few years out of the ring, and not even keeping in shape within those years. Can he come back and beat the guys that absolutely live for boxing, training full time, early to bed, no drinking, no drugs, no nothing..He is going to have a tough time and I can see why people are worried for his safety. Obviously we can't forget that Ricky is / was world class. He has only lost to the best two boxers out there so there is a lot of room in between. Maybe, with the right match making he could win a world title. Yes there are some great champions hovering around his weight classes but there are also a few title holders that Ricky could beat if he becomes super dedicated and starts living for boxing again.
How much can we expect from him. At this late stage of his career he's not going to become a master boxer or change his old style dramatically. He is basically a brawler and his boxing style is not known for it's longevity in this sport. Brawlers like Ricky Hatton take far too much punishment to get inside range to land their own shots. Hatton's defensive skills aren't going to win him any prizes either. Brawlers get hit, that's why most retire a lot sooner then skilled boxers that don't get hit as much. He will have a hard time but it's not an impossible task. Hatton's return has certainly pumped a bit of life into boxing in the UK at the moment so as long as he doesn't get seriously hurt then it's good for the sport. I just hope the rumours aren't true and Ricky Hatton does not fight Juan Manuel Marquez for his return fight to the ring. If he does we could well see his return to the ring ended after one fight.

Vitali Klitschko Vs Charr Stare Down
This could well be Vitali Klitschko's last fight. He is very involved in politics and it seems quite possible that he will be hanging up the gloves after this fight and continuing to fight for change and equality in his home country of Ukraine. Manuel Charr is not very well known in most parts of the world and those that have heard of him, or seen him fight think he has little chance of beating Vitali Klitschko, even at this late stage of Vitali's boxing career. It's fair to say that these two fighter are a few levels apart in terms of world class boxing skills and experience. Although Charr isn't without his fans. Some people are convinced that the title will be changing hands on Saturday.
Manuel Charr is lucky that he is fighting Vitali at the end of his career because if he wasn't he would get destroyed very quickly. Charr does have decent power but with Vitali's boxing style being so awkward, Charr is going to have a hard time with closing the distance, and an even tougher time jumping out of range once he has let his punches go. It should be a good fight worth watching. I believe it's being shown live from Russia on RTL.

UFC 152 Jon Jones Fights Lyoto Machida
UFC 152: Jon Jones Fights Lyoto Machida
Update: Jon Jones will now fight Vitor Belfort @ UFC 152 after Machida pulls out.
In a strange change of events Dan Henderson Pulls out of his scheduled title fight against Jon Jones due to an injured MCL, leaving the door open for a new opponent for Jones. Chael Sonnen wanted the fight but Greg Jackson ( Jon Jones trainer ) told him not to fight Sonnen on such short notice, so Jones will now be fighting Lyoto Machida for the title. I bet Machida is very happy at getting this shot at the title. He lost when he last fought Jon Jones via Guillotine Choke. It wasn't a bad fight overall but many people think Jones will end up winning again. However, you'd be crazy to right off Machida. He could so easily pull off the win. Listen to what Dana White had to say about Jones not taking the fight against Sonnen.

Whats Next For Amir Khans Boxing Career
Whats Next For Amir Khans Boxing Career
After the crushing defeat suffered by Amir Khan against Danny Garcia the question is where does Amir Khan go from here. Well, Garcia's dad made it pretty clear that his son will not be giving Amir Khan a rematch stating that him and his son will now be moving on to bigger and better things. I think Garcia's dad is right in not giving Khan an instant rematch, why should he. Does anybody think that if Khan would have knocked out Garcia, like he thought he was going to, would you see Khan giving him a rematch. I don't think so. It's only right now that Amir Khan should have to work his way back up by at least having one or two warm up fights against decent opponents before fighting for any major titles. After all, Khan did lose this fight fair and square.
It looked as though Amir Khan took Danny Garcia lightly. Khan expected to blow Garcia away in a few rounds and perhaps he didn't train as hard as he should of. He even stated in an interview that he felt this opportunity for Garcia to fight a prime fighter like himself had come a little early for Garcia. Whether Khan didn't train hard enough or not, does it really make a difference. Like the old saying goes, no matter how hard you train, you can't put muscles on your chin. And the truth of the matter is that Amir Khan got caught with a great punch and couldn't recover fast enough to clear his head in order to tie up, bide time, or box his way out of trouble. Perhaps he was just too macho because of all the talk before the fight and all the expectation that Khan would knock Garcia out quite easily. Khan got sucked into a war and that's not where Khan is at his best. He is in his element jumping in and out of range using boxing skills, which is something he totally neglected after two rounds in this fight.
Some people are saying that Khan should retire after losing the way did. Fair enough, he did get a beating but he is still young and I'm sure he can come back from this defeat and win another world title belt. But saying that, something tells me his management will be very careful match makers in the future. Anyone that can punch will be high risk. People, including possible future opponents for Khan have seen certain holes and weaknesses in Khan's game and will certainly have more confidence going into a fight against Khan knowing that if they apply smart pressure Khan can be stopped. Khan should work on his defence and inside fighting because in the Garcia fight he looked open, had no inside game, and was within range far too often after letting his punches go. His punching power also looked weak and Garcia seemed to walk through Khan's punches unfazed. It will be tough for Khan to come back from this but he can do it.

David Haye Vs Dereck Chisora Weigh-In
David Haye Vs Dereck Chisora Weigh-In Video
David Haye and Dereck Chisora again trade insults, trying to mentally get the upper hand on each other with the war of words. Not sure why the weigh-in was held on Thursday when the fight is on Saturday. Both fighters look in good shape and it's a tough fight to predict who wins. They each have their own set of quality's and I guess it's just a matter of how their boxing styles gel together. I do think this is a harder fight for David Haye. He is in with a guy who just comes forward non stop and this is going to be an energy sapping fight for Haye. If Haye doesn't get Chisora out of there within the first 5 or 6 rounds he is in danger of punching himself out. Lucky for Haye, this fight is only 10 rounds.

David Haye Interview Update 2012
David Haye Interview Update 2012
Box Nation caught up with David Haye at the Park Plaza Hotel where he talked about his up coming fight against Dereck Chisora. Haye is very confident that Chisora doesn't have the boxing skills to compete with him, and Haye says that he could end the fight by knockout anytime he wants. Something tells me it's not going to be as easy as he thinks it is to dispatch of Chisora by knockout. Chisora has never been stopped and in his last fight he went the distance with Vitali Klitschko. If Haye does stop Chisora by KO it will be an impressive show of power by Haye. Chisora has good punch resistance and Haye could possibly punch himself out if he goes for the knockout from the 1st bell.

Pacquiao Robbed Vs Timothy Bradley
Pacquiao Robbed Vs Timothy Bradley
After watching the fight up until the last second of the last round I turned the fight off before the decision was announced because I knew it was a complete shut out. Pacquiao had beaten Bradley quite easily. I wake up today and take a look on YouTube and see that Bradley won the decision!..How is that possible. He hardly won a round. He won 3 or 4 rounds at the most. Bradley fought with courage and did have some good moments but plain and simple, Pacquiao got robbed.
From the first bell it was clear that Timothy Bradley didn't have enough power to trouble Manny, and you could see that Manny was well aware of this flaw. Pacquiao took some flush punches and it didn't seem to bother him at all. This was not the case the other way round. Pacquiao's huge power and speed advantage had Bradley in trouble numerous times and he was lucky to survive some of the exchanges. Bradley's boxing and tying up skills saved him from being stopped. It was what some people said it would be. Just like some of Pacquiao's previous opponents, once they felt the power they were on the back foot in survival mode, and Bradley was no exception. Once he felt the power you could see that he thought -Oh sh*t- and he was then on the back foot for a lot of the fight in survival mode. No one expected this of Bradley because he is a come forward fighter with a huge heart and determination to win.
So even more credit goes to Manny Pacquiao for convincingly beating Bradley and making him understand and taste first hand the skill and power level of one of the best boxers in the sport today. He knew he was out of his depth. Fair enough, Pacquiao did take his foot off the gas in some of the rounds, but what did Bradley do at those moments, land a small flurry of punches with zero power and then go on the back foot again..Is that enough to win the round. It shouldn't be. Bradley had more success in the later rounds, but it was too little too late.
Bradley never knew what hit him in this fight. Deep down inside he must know he lost, no matter what the decision was. Paquiao won this fight. And that's coming from someone who actually picked Bradley to win and made money on Bradley winning the decision. Even Floyd Mayweather Sr, Pacquiao's best friend lol said Manny won.
However, theres is no sense in blaming Timothy Bradley, he fought the best he could, lasted till the end and won an extremely controversial decision. Who's to blame? The judges most probably. Or was (is) there a hidden agenda by some of the big fish of the boxing world here somewhere..
Great win for Pacquiao.
There is only one person left for Pacquiao to fight and we all know who that is. Then after that who else is there?

David Haye Vs Chisora Coming Soon
David Haye Vs Chisora Coming Soon
Despite all the attempts by the British Boxing Board Of Control to make the fight not go ahead, it looks like we will be seeing David Haye take on Dereck Chisora this summer. Would there have even been a fight if the scuffle between Haye and Chisora never happened? Absolutely not. Make no mistake, there are a fair few people, not including anyone involved with the BBBC that are frowning upon this fight taking place. But it's true What David Haye said, they may say there disgusted with this fight but they will still be watching it.
Boxing's a fighting sport, sometimes tensions can run high and fights can break out. But it's not like it happens every week. Most boxers are very respectful to their opponents.
In fairness it's easy to see the point of the small percentage of people who think the fight is not a good idea. Because instead of punishing the fighters for their behaviour they are actually being rewarded. Frank Warren and the brawl between Haye and Chisora have managed to build a fight everyone wants to see, and in the process both fighters will make a few million pounds each. What kind of punishment is that? And what kind of example does that set for young people that look up to these fighters.. As if fighting on the street leads to good things..Well in most cases is doesn't. However, you are well within your rights to defend yourself and I encourage anyone to do so if in danger of being seriously hurt.
All that being said, this is a great fight and almost everyone can't wait to see what happens in the coming build up, and in the fight itself. With Chisora's track record of violence outside the ring the pair might not even be able to have the weigh in without there being some sort of divider between them. Just like at the press conference where a fence was put in the middle to make sure nothing kicked off.
It's a great move by Frank Warren making this match up. He knows this fight, because of the controversy, means big audiences. Big audiences equals big money. Both fighters have lost to a Klitschko and the winner between the pair with most probably get a shot at Vitali Klitschko, who is the holder of the WBC Heavyweight Title.
Haye seems to be the favourite to win the fight. He has more experience, more skill, more power, and has mixed with the much better class of opposition. But What Chisora lacks in skill and experience he makes up for with determination and a solid chin. He is a tough guy and if he comes in shape he does have pretty good stamina late in fights. Those quality's can cause an opponent problems when a fight goes into the later rounds.
More to come soon on this fight.

Amir Khan Demands Random Drug Tests
Amir Khan Demands Random Drug Tests
Amir Khan has said that whoever he fights in the future must agree to random drug testing. Boxing has had a few shock findings in this department recently. One of the people caught being Amir Khan's previous opponent Lamont Peterson, so you can see why Khan is now insisting that random drug testing must take place for anyone he fights. The rematch between Khan and Peterson was all set until Peterson tested positive for a banned substance, which was said to be elevated levels of Testosterone. (Synthetic Testosterone)
To make matters worse Lamont Peterson has already admitted that he was taking PED's in some shape or form (Testosterone) when he fought Amir Khan the first time. So It's definitely a step in the right direction. There is so much on the line at the elite level of the sport that even fighters that would never have considered taking performance enhancing drugs may do so because of what's at stake. The pressure to win is immense.
They have worked their whole life up to the point where they are competing in the big money fights and sometimes they can be tempted to give themselves that little extra boost in order to make sure they have trained to the absolute limit and are firing on all cylinders come fight night. However, PED's are the cheaters way, and there is no room for that silliness in boxing. It's about time that more stringent testing was done more often. Peoples lives are on the line.

Junior Dos Santos Vs Cain Velasquez
Junior Dos Santos Vs Cain Velasquez
After both scoring impressive stoppages at UFC 146, Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez might be facing each other next in the octagon. This match up does make sense. Their both elite heavyweights and Dos Santos has beaten Velasquez once already. So Velasquez wants revenge and the title UFC back so it's all to fight for. It should be a good fight, but unless Velasquez can take Dos Santos down Velasquez will get another beat down for sure. Hopefully if the pair do end up facing each other Velasquez won't be silly and have a striking match with Dos Santos for five rounds because if he does he will get stopped. Let's see if the fight gets made.
Who else is there for Dos Santos to fight? Alistair Overeem would give him a good test but he is out for a while. Or maybe newly crowned StrikeForce Champion Daniel Cormier in a unification fight. That would be interesting. With Cormier being a very decorated wrestler perhaps he could be the one to close the distance and take Dos Santos to the ground, nullifying his best weapons in the process, those two sledge hammer fists.
After both scoring impressive stoppages at UFC 146, Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez might be facing each other next in the octagon. This match up does make sense. UFC 146 Quick Predictions
UFC 146 Quick Predictions
Another UFC is upon us, and it's got a pretty good card. The one fight that everyone wants to see is the main event between Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir. After scanning the whole card, and then listening to this video I am in full agreement with MMA Digests prediction picks for UFC 146. It should be a great night of fights.

Carl Froch Knocks Out Bute In Round 5
Carl Froch Knocks Out Bute In Round 5
Carl Froch takes Lucian Bute to school and stops him in the 5th round. This was a seriously one sided fight. Bute was completely exposed, he was getting caught with barrages of huge shots far too often. Froch seemed harder to hit then Bute thought he would be. Froch outboxed the superior boxer. Bute's punch resistance wasn't there and it seemed as if every time Froch landed punches Bute was in trouble. Bute was rocked in the 3rd round and it looked like the fight might be over then and there, but Bute did show some heart and did try to fight back. He managed to clear his head, tie up, and get through the round.
After the 3rd round scare for Bute, a knockout win by Froch seemed imminent. Again in the 4th round, Bute was battered all over the ring. Every time Carl Froch opened up with power shots Bute was rocking and rolling all over the place. He just could not handle the sheer power of Carl Froch's punches. In the 5th round Carl's corner must have told him not to let Bute off the hook and just go for it. So he did. Carl Froch let it all hang out and totally smashed a dazed Bute with some very clean, full force punches that rocked Butes head all the way back. The referee had seen enough and called an end to the contest. Carl Froch is the new IBF world champion. There is a rematch clause in the contract so Froch will most probably have to go to Canada for the rematch.
An excellent performance by Carl Froch.

Carl Froch Vs Lucian Bute Weigh-In
Carl Froch Vs Lucian Bute Weigh-In
You know when Carl Froch is having a fight it's going to be action packed. The Ward fight was as an exception. It was still a decent fight and Froch tried to push the action, but Ward was just too good and has such an awkward style to look good against. This fight against Bute has all the ingredients to be a really great battle. I know that people, including Froch himself are saying that Bute hasn't fought anyone and hasn't been tested. But against Carl Froch, who has bags of heart and strength, but has limited hand speed and boxing skill, Bute is by far the more superior boxer. A good advantage for Froch though is that he has good stamina late in fights, where as Bute has tired badly in the past against mediocre opposition compared to Froch.
Bute is a tricky southpaw fighter and if I could pick one word to describe Butes boxing style it would be cute. He has cute boxing skills, he finds the tiny openings in his opponents defence and catches them off guard with fast powerful punches that they weren't expecting. Bute's body shots are fantastic. He is also very good at throwing shots simultaneously, so just as his opponent trys to land a shot he is great a moving and landing effective counter punches. This is what makes Bute so dangerous for a fighter like Froch. Bute has excellent skills and is very big at the weight.
This is a big test for Carl Froch. He has many positives. He is fighting at home, he can take a good punch, and he has the determination to win no matter what it takes. So it should be a great fight. His best chance to win is in the later rounds where Bute does tend to tire. And if Froch's impressive stamina late on comes into play and we see a tired Bute in the second half of the fight, it could reward him with the IBF title on Saturday night. That would make Carl Froch a 3 time World Champion.

Mikkel Kessler Knocks Out Allan Green
Mikkel Kessler Knocks Out Allan Green
The Kessler Vs Green started fast and furious, both showed good boxing skills and it seemed like the fight would be a close toe to toe boxing match. Green had some very good moments through out the fight and he actually legitimately knocked Kessler down in the first round. Kessler got caught with a hook which rocked him down to his boots. Green followed up on this, landing a nice body shot that sent Kessler to the canvas. But Kessler is tough. And when the going gets tough the tough get fighting. And that's exactly what Kessler did. He rocked Green a few times in the second and third rounds. But Green managed to evade further punishment by using good boxing skills.
However, Green was starting to tire and getting caught with shots more often. In the fourth round Kessler seen an opening and took advantage. Kessler caught green with a perfect left hook that completely hit the "lights out" button on Green. Allan Green was completely knocked out cold. Fight over. Kessler looked slightly vulnerable at times in this fight, but what makes him so dangerous is his warrior fighting spirit and his punching power. Excellent win for Kessler.

David Price Destroys Sam Sexton In 4 Rounds
David Prices puts on a very calm and relaxed performance. He looked great tonight working behind the jab. His style resembled Wladimir Klitschko's. He stayed behind the jab, boxed carefully, but still applied the pressure. Price totally controlled the fight from the start and it looked like Sextons game plan was to cover up, let Price punch himself out a little, and then start applying the pressure in the later rounds. It wasn't to be. Price punched too hard and found the little openings in Sextons defence. The power of Prices punches was too much for Sexton to handle. Once Price started landing cleaner punches, the fight was over.
Price is destined for better things. He has all the tools to go far. He is very tall, has good power, and a good boxing style that makes the most of his gigantic size. By the time he is ready for World title fights (Around 2 years time) the Klitschko's will most probably be retired. Vitali will be anyway. This would be an ideal opportunity for Price to grab one of the World Titles.

Another Boxer Failing Drug Tests
Another Boxer Failing A Drug Test
First it was Lamont Peterson that failed a drug test, now it's Andre Berto as well!. Berto was scheduled to fight Victor Ortiz in June but now that could be in jeopardy depending on what results come back for the drug test. Is there a logical explanation? The facts aren't clear yet so people mustn't jump to conclusions. But it doesn't look good for Andre Berto and his camp. And what about boxing as a whole..Two world class boxers failing drug tests while in preparation for the most important, high profile fights of their boxing careers. I hope there is a logical and easy explanation for Berto failing.
As for Lamont Peterson, he has already admitted to taking testosterone. So if Andre Berto doesn't fight Victor Oritz because of this where does that leave Ortiz. Well, there are talks of replacements stepping in to face Ortiz The show must go on. The replacement fighter that I think everyone would love to see against Victor Ortiz is Amir Khan..Why not? Both have now had their opponents fail drugs test so why not fight each other. That would be a great fight. One that would be making the best out of a bad situation. Sadly, I think Amir Khan just wants his old belts back before anything else.
Lets sit tight and see what happens. I hope Berto comes through clean so he still gets to fight Ortiz because that's an exciting rematch.

Mikkel Kessler Vs Allan Green Weigh-In
Mikkel Kessler Vs Allan Green Weigh-In
Kessler Vs Green Should be an interesting fight for a few rounds. But I'm surprised Green is being given this chance because he's looked shot as a fighter. After a few rounds he becomes very tired and weak. Not sure why. Before the boxing matches he states that he's in excellent shape and never felt better. Then he gets battered. He is a fighter that has been on the slip. Hopefully he will have some of his old fire back in this fight.
Green will try to make this fight a clinical boxing match, using boxing skills and awkwardness to frustrate and confuse Kessler. But Green doesn't have the engine to do that for 12 rounds. At some point he will get tired, and Kessler will catch up with him sooner or later. There's only going to be one winner...Kessler! Enjoy the weigh-in.

Timothy Bradley Vs Manny Pacquiao
Timothy Bradley Vs Manny Pacquiao
Fight Date: 9th June 2012 - Checkout the Weigh-In
This is one of the best boxing match ups for a while. I cannot believe that people think this is going to be an easy fight for Manny! It's clear that with people thinking this way, they have no respect for Bradley as a top P4P level fighter. But I bet they will after this fight. This will be one hell of a tough fight for Manny Pacquiao. Timothy Bradley has the will and the skill to push Manny to the limit.
It's fair to say that every time someone says "Manny might lose this fight", he ends up obliterating his opponent. There have been a few times were I have thought and said the same thing and Pacman has surprised me by dominating. And not taking anything away from any other Pacman victims of the past but Bradley is a different kettle of fish. He really is coming to win and he truly believes that he will win, no matter what it takes. Also being unbeaten as well, this makes him one of Manny's toughest opponents. Not just of recent years either but of his whole boxing career.
If Manny can convincingly beat Timothy Bradley he should be considered as being still on top of his game. I say this because after his last fight against Marquez people were saying that Manny was clearly beaten and that he's on the slip as a fighter. The truth is, Manny has always had severe problems fighting Marquez. I don't think he's on the slip, but rather Marquez put on the performance of a lifetime and also knew the script on Manny having fought him twice already.
So how does Bradley beat Pacquiao. It's will be tough but Pacquiao defensively is pretty open after he has let his own punches go, he does get hit. So it's a matter of timing and speed for Bradley. Timothy Bradley, although nowhere near as fast as Pacquiao, is a very busy fighter with rough house tactics and is also great at working on the inside so he will cause many problems for Manny. Bradley's young, hungry, in superb condition, and not coming to get a pay cheque, he really is coming to win, and with the skills and mindset that he has I think we could be looking at a potential upset in this fight. Bradley, so far, has always found a way to win. Can he do it against one of the absolute best in the sport today.
As for Manny, he just has to be himself. His Power and speed will cause anyone problems right up to the Middleweight division. And the same goes for Bradley in terms of getting hit, he is quite open defensively after throwing his own punches. He stays in the pocket, so Pacquiao can, and will no doubt take advantage of this. But I have to say something, and I know sparring isn't the best measuring stick in terms of what a fighter will do in the ring on fight night, but I was watching Manny in sparring the other day and he was getting tagged all over the place. He didn't look very sharp and was getting caught over and over again. Maybe he was just taking it easy. Hopefully he was. Luckily, there is still some time to go before the fight and more sparring will be taking place so he has time to get serious and sharpen up. This fight is a big test for both fighters.
Prediction: Bradley fights like a man possessed and wins on points.

Quite a funny Interview With David Haye About Chisora and the upcoming fight! David Haye says Chisora is a bully. The fight between Haye and Chisora is still on but the powers that be in the UK are not happy. They are trying everything to make the fight not happen. Including threatening to take boxing licenses away from people involved in the fight. I think they are taking things a bit too far. Just let them fight. People want to see it.

David Haye Will Fight Dereck Chisora
David Haye Will Fight Dereck Chisora
Well it's confirmed, David Haye will fight Dereck Chisora at Upton Park on July 14th 2012. These two guys don't particularly like each, like your probably aware. This should be a really good fight. David Haye is possibly a few levels above Chisora as far as boxing skills are concerned, but as we seen against Vitali, Chisora is one tough guy with a great chin. Should be a very interesting fight. Definitely a sell out. Check out the Haye - Chisora head to head.

Canelo Alvarez Beats Shane Mosley
Canelo Alvarez Beats Shane Mosley On Points
What a great, all action fight! Shane Mosley puts on a spectacular performance and pushes Canelo to the limits of exhaustion. The fight went to the score cards where Canelo won a wide decision. But the cards were not very accurate, the fight was much closer. Canelo was cut by an accidental headbutt early in the fight and this no doubt affected his fight plan and made him uncomfortable going into the second half of the fight. Credit to both fighters because the fight was mostly toe to toe action from the first bell to the last.
Many people are saying that Canelo is a fraud because he couldn't stop an old Shane Mosley. However, styles make fights, and their styles gelled extremely well. This had a lot to do with this fight being so close. Shane Mosley really came to fight tonight. Full credit to him. He surprised a lot of people tonight by keeping up with a very young, in his prime fighter. Canelo landed some great power punches that did stun Mosley, but Mosley for most of the exchanges just kept moving forward. Great Fight.
Mayweather Beats Cotto
Oh, and surprise surprise. Floyd Mayweather beats Miguel Cotto on points. Cotto put on a super brave performance, and a great effort overall. He did catch Mayweather with some decent punches at times, and when Cotto closed the distance and worked in close along the ropes he did have some good success. Cotto surprised a lot of people. He really came to fight. Mayweathers nose was bleeding through out most of the fight and he did look more marked up then usual at the end of the fight. However, all in all, Floyd Mayweather did put on a great boxing performance. He was on another level, to sharp, too slick, too clever, and also very impressive defensively. Very good fight. And much closer then most people thought it would be. Great counter punching by Mayweather. But just like the Canelo Mosley fight, the score cards should have been much closer for this fight. Probably the toughest fight of Floyds boxing career so far.

Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto
Floyd Mayweather Vs Miguel Cotto
Floyd Mayweather picks Miguel Cotto as his next victim to make a fight that will possibly be close to identical to what Mayweather had against Shane Mosley. But maybe more of a bloodbath.
This fight will most probably end with Cotto being cut to ribbons due to Floyds accuracy and Cotto's tendency to get cut and marked up pretty easily. Cotto looked great against the Frankenstein of the lighter weights of boxing, Antonio Margarito, but Floyd Mayweather is such a superior boxer and defensive movement master that it's hard to see Cotto making any impact at all in this fight. What are Cotto's tactics going to be in this fight? Try and out-box Mayweather? Not in a million years. Rush in with all guns blazing and risk getting knocked out? Floyd Mayweather is a counter puncher so if Cotto can feint a lot and try to time Mayweathers responses perhaps it could be a little closer then people think.
Cotto's could also stand a chance if he try's to maul Mayweather. Close the distance and go to work body and head. Easier said then done against Mayweather. And I believe that these are the tactics the Cotto camp are going to try and use in this fight, but no matter who they have sparred with in order to prepare for this gameplan they just can't compare to Mayweather. Not matter which way you look at it, Cotto's in for a very tough nights work. Floyd Mayweather has chose to fight Cotto because he can see many holes that he can exploit. Mayweather's even said, "You can change Cotto's style at this late stage of his boxing career". So he knows exaclty who and what he's facing on May 5th.
This is a great fight from a money point of view, and also for the fans. Cotto has a huge fan base, and fans always buy PPV when Mayweathers fighting. Whether they tune in to watch Mayweather dismantle someone or to see him lose or get knocked out makes no difference, they still pay for the fight. Personally I love watching Floyd Mayweather, and not because I want him to lose. I believe he is the best P4P boxer out there right now. And will remain the best for another two years.
Does anyone think Cotto has a chance of winning this fight? Cotto's a very good fighter and a great guy but he doesn't stand much chance of beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. Cotto is too slow hand and foot. Mayweather will dominate this fight with sheer speed, accuracy, and elusiveness. But, you can never say never in boxing!

Tyson Fury Stops Martin Rogan
Tyson Fury Stops Martin Rogan
Tyson Fury puts on his most clinical boxing performance so far, stopping Martin Rogan in 5 rounds with a barrage of blows that sent the tough Irish man reeling to the canvas in round 5. The key punch being a perfectly placed body shot. Tyson Fury had a great game plan for this fight against the much older Martin Rogan. Throw out the jab occasionally for a few rounds and let the older and more busier Martin Rogan exert himself by throwing most of the punches. The tactics worked perfectly. Martin Rogan looked tired after a few rounds and when Tyson Fury seen the evidence of this he started applying the pressure. The result speaks for itself.
This was the most mature Tyson Fury so far. In previous fights Fury has just turned up on the night and had a fight, never really having a set game plan. In this fight he looked calm and in control. Maybe he's just maturing now as a fighter or perhaps that confidence was there because he knew Martin Rogan was at the end of his boxing career and not really much of a threat. Going on interviews that Tyson Fury gave before the fight was even made it would appear so. Fury stated that Martin Rogan was of no use to him inside a boxing ring because he was too old.
However, credit where it's due. Tyson Fury disposed of Rogan in style and this fight was never considered as nothing more then a "keep busy" fight for Tyson Fury, who could now be in line to fight either Robert Helenius, an up and coming American prospect, or even Alexander Povetkin. It would be a good move for Tyson Furys manager to try and secure a fight with a decent American heavyweight to try and build his profile and get his name talked about in the States.
What now for Martin Rogan?
In all honesty, it's pipe and slippers time for Rogan. Before fighting Tyson Fury Martin Rogan last fought a six round bout in 2010 against journeyman Werner Kreiskott, and Rogan won that on points. Martin Rogan gave it his best shot against Tyson Fury, but at 40 years old and not having fought for close to two years before fighting Fury, it's fair to say that his best years and hunger to reach the top of the sport are well and truly behind him. Sure, he could fight some low level domestic fights but is it really worth it? I suppose only Martin Rogan can answer that question.

Jon Jones Beats Rashad Evans
Jon Jones Beats Rashad Evans
Jon Jones beats Rashad Evans on points. Jon Jones was dominant in every round, controlling the pace and centre of the octagon with relative ease. Rashad Evans did have some small spurts of success, landing some decent punches and kicks, but it was Jon Jones who landed the more vicious strikes and was the dominant force for most of the fight. Rashad was on the backfoot for most of the 1st round, and although he did land a very good headkick, most of the action was coming from Jon Jones who landed some very good head and body kicks and controlled the pace very well.
Rashad Evans started the second round very fast, showing very good speed. But again, Jones started closing the distance and landing some devastating elbows to Rashad's face which had him seriously rocked but he managed to hang in there.
The 3rd round and Evans was on the outside, eating the occasional jab and flying knee, looking tired, obviously feeling the pace. Jon Jones landed some superb kicks and pushed the action, using his range, controlling the pace and centre of the octagon.
Again, the 4th round was Jones in charge of the action, landing more elbows and kicks. He even started to shoulder barge Rashad Evans face as Evans was catching a rest by leaning on Jones shoulder. Rashed just wasn't doing enough. The 5th round more dominance by Jones and more shoulder barging. Rashad Evans was simply outclassed by the more talented Jon Jones. There was a few takedown attempts by Evans but Jones was too sharp and too strong for Rashad to take down. The only time this fight went to the ground was when Jones jumped and wrapped his legs around Evans in the final seconds of the 5th round, deliberately pulling guard. A great indicator of how confident Jon Jones is.
Good win for Jon Jones.

The Dangers Of The Rear Naked Choke
A man named Stephen Arceneaux has died from a rear naked choke applied by his 14 year old cousin. The pair were messing about play fighting when the 14 year old got Stephen Arceneaux in a rear naked choke and held it for too long. This video highlights how dangerous rear naked chokes can be and encourages anyone without the appropriate training and experience not to play around with these lethal techniques. If chokes are held for too long they can cause irreversible damage and even death, like in this case. Play nice folks and remember the dangers. Share this video.

Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans
Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans UFC 145
These two MMA fighters were very good friends at one point. Being very close, and also training with the same team at Greg Jackson's Gym, they vouched never to fight each other. One thing led to another and the pair became rivals in many ways. Add rivalry, trash talk, Hype, Dollar signs, and the fight the fans now want to see, and what do you get? Well, this week you get Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans. Next week or next month there will be a new rivalry between two other fighters. That's just the way the industry works. Anyway, no complaints, this is a very good fight. Jones and Evans have an extensive history of sparring together, and in those sparring sessions no one really ever got the upper hand on a regular basis. They were very evenly matched. Both know each others strengths and weaknesses having trained together for so long.
Sparring isn't about going all out trying to hurt your partner, it's about learning mostly, so in some ways we don't know if Jon Jones was just taking it easy. It's a mistake for either fighter to look at those past sparring sessions and make the assumption that this fight will be similar, as in very close. From Interview evidence, Jon Jones isn't thinking that but it seems like Rashad Evans is really digging deep to find little instances where he hurt Jones in sparring. Rashad's the one analysing those sparring sessions with a fine tooth comb.
The only thing that really matters is who can execute their game plan effectively on the night.
Rashed Evans has had his day in the sun. He's been there and done it, had many big fights, and beat everyone he has fought except Lyoto Machida, who knocked Evans out. That aside, Evans is an elite level MMA fighter. Rashad is very explosive and very strong. He has a great all round mix of excellent takedowns, excellent striking, and impressive wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu skills. Compared to Jones, Rashad is old, but Rashad is only 32 so could actually be in his prime at that age so don't sleep on Rashad just because he's the older fighter.
Jon Jones is so creative, so unique, and so unpredictable it's hard to see him losing this fight. Jon Jones is a younger and busier version of Anderson Silva. He has great athleticism, excellent wrestling pedigree, and a striking game that's completely off the charts. Youth, sense of distance, and range have also played a big part in why Jones has been so successful in MMA so far. Also, Jon Jones is basically unbeaten. He has one "loss" on his record which is actually a disqualification for illegally hitting Matt Hamill with elbows.
So Jones still doesn't know how to lose, which makes him an even tougher opponent to beat. Jon Jones hasn't been at the elite level of the UFC for very long but he seems destined for greatness and grounded enough to handle the pressure of big fights. Jon Jones disposed of two of the best UFC fighters out there in devastating fashion, Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Let's not forget Rampage Jackson as well, who Jones submitted by Rear Naked Choke. Does the same fate lie in wait for Rashad Evans? We will find out.
Most people have Jon Jones as the favourite, and rightly so. But he's not unbeatable. No fighter is. Rashad Evans has to take Jones out of his comfort zone and rough him up. Make it into a dog fight and not let Jones use his range to control the distance and pace of the fight. With 4 Oz gloves on anything can happen! Looking forward to a great fight. Jon Jones by knockout.

Shane Mosley Vs Canelo Alvarez
Shane Mosley Vs Canelo Alvarez
Fight Date: 5th May 2012
Without doubt, Shane Mosley was, and still is a great fighter. There's also no argument that Shane Mosley has faced the much better opposition in his last few fights compared to Canelo. Just take a look at Mosley's last 3 opponents: Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, and Sergio Mora. We have two of the best P4P boxers right there. Compare that to Canelo's last 3 fights: Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez, Kermit Cintron. They are good fighters, but no where near the level of being considered anywhere close to the P4P best boxers in the sport. It's fair to say that this fight is a step up for Saul Alvarez.
However, Alvarez has one huge advantage over Mosley, and that's age. On both sides. Mosley, as we have witnessed in his last 3 fights tires badly after 4 rounds and basically fights the rest of the fight on the back foot in survival mode. Just doing enough, but never quite enough to win any rounds over the busier fighters. He's not badly hurt when fighting this way but it looks at if he is trying to save his energy because perhaps he's slightly paranoid of becoming seriously gassed out and getting knocked out as a result.
Saying that, styles make fights and these two fighters have similar styles, so it should be a great fight.
Saul Alvarez is like a younger Miguel Cotto, he's firing on all cylinders right now. It's hard to believe that Saul Alvarez is just 21 years old with 39 professional fights under his belt! Where as Mosley, no matter how good he looks in training, and he does look good, he always looks completely spent in the actual fight when it goes past a few rounds. Maybe this will always be Mosley at 40 years old. He had his peak a long time ago.
Mosley still has huge power, and that's a threat to anyone. Saul Alvarez does have that boxing style where he gets hit quite regularly. But as we seen against Mayweather Jr, Mosley had Mayweather in serious trouble in the second round but he just couldn't follow up the attack. Mosley really needs a one punch knockout in this fight.
Alvarez is not scared of Mosley's power either. It looked to me like Mayweather could have stopped Mosley but he didn't apply more pressure because he didn't want to take any unnecessary chances and risk getting caught with another big punch like he got caught with in the second round. Mayweather, although he did apply pressure to Mosley, and was the aggressor, he played it safe and just sailed to a points victory.
Boxing's is a young mans sport despite there still being a few oldies knocking about, and Mosley hasn't aged well in that respect. He is no Bernard Hopkins in terms of turning back the clock . Then again, how much can we expect of Mosley. I mean, he has gone the distance with two of the best boxers in the world so surely that's a hell of an achievement at 40 years old. Is Alvarez even on Mayweather's level? Many doubt it, and that's what makes this fight interesting. These two meet in the middle somewhere. It's Young lion Vs old lion.
The only thing letting Mosley down is his age and unless Mosley gets lucky with a huge punch, he has little chance, specially the longer the fight goes on. Canelo, at just 21 years old, and already being very experienced and equally as powerful, is too much for Mosely right now. I have to be honest, I would love Mosley to win but it's a long shot.

Lamont Peterson Remains Champ May 19
Lamont Peterson has spoken to Global sport in colour and says he will still be the champion on May 19th. From this interview it's clear that Peterson is going to be applying the pressure on Khan. Marching forward, closing the distance, and not giving Khan the time to get the jab or combinations going. Amir Khan doesn't have much of an inside game so if Peterson can close the distance when he wants he may well be predicting the right outcome in saying he remains the WBA and IBF Light Welterweight Champion.

Amir Khan still insists that he was cheated when he lost his WBA and IBF light welterweight titles when he fought Lamont Peterson last year. Everyone except Khan and his camp are now sick of hearing this. It was a close fight yes, but many people think Peterson done enough to get the win. Here is Amir Khan talking about his upcoming rematch with Lamont Peterson, still bitter about the first fight. The truth is, Peterson fought out of his skin, and in the process he exposed a few weaknesses in Khan's game. Instead of being bitter Khan needs to work on fixing those weaknesses because Peterson will be looking to expose them again in the rematch.

George Groves Vs Kenny Anderson Is Called Off
Quick Update: The scheduled fight between George Grove and Kenny Anderson has been called off due to "medical reasons". The "medical reasons" has come from the George Groves camp. Not sure what the problems is. It could possibly be an injury picked up during training. However, nothing has been confirmed.
It is rumoured though that George Groves has scrapped this fight with Anderson because his manager has won purse bids for a world title fight against WBO Super Middleweight Champion Robert Stieglitz. Again, nothing is confirmed. Groves Vs Anderson would have been a good fight, but if the choice is there to fight for a world title Groves would be crazy not to go for it. Saying that, Robert Stieglitz could be a risky fight for Groves. Robert Stieglitz is an experienced operator and has more knockouts on his boxing record then Groves has fights.

Scott Harrison Returns To Boxing
Scott Harrison Returns To Boxing
Former WBO Champion Scott Harrison makes a return to the ring after a long and troubled road away from the sport that he hopefully now leaves well and truly in the past. It's been six years since Scott Harrison's last fight. People are asking, can he come back to the sport after such a long absence and become world champion again. Scott's first fight back will be in Blackpool, UK, against an opponent yet to be named. Obviously this will just be a warm up fight. With 6 years away from the ring, and 2 ¼ of those years spent in a Spanish jail, I would hope this warm-up fight will be the first of a few before taking on the real top boxers of the weight class that Scott will be fighting at. However, there is talk that Scott will be targeting a world title shot as early as September 2012. If Frank Maloney (Harrison's promoter) is wise it will be for one of the less regarded titles against a decent but not elite level fighter. Unless he wants to run the risk because Harrison has been a world champion before.
Scott Harrison is still world class no doubt, he is a solid pro, but with 6 years out of the sport and now being 34 years old, it makes one wonder if his best years are now behind him. He can win a world title but September 2012 is a bit too soon to start targeting world titles. Realistically Scott needs to spend the whole of this year working his way back into the sport and working his way back up to the better opponents that he will need all his old "prime days" boxing skill level to beat. That will only come with time. But I guess time is what he doesn't have, which is why he wants to fight for a world title sooner rather then later. He needs to become a gym rat, but I'm pretty sure he was anyway.
It's a tough task but he can do it if he stays focused and away from alcohol.
Update: Scott Harrison's scheduled fight at the end of March has been cancelled due to him being arrested by Police for - Shoplifting. Frank Maloney no longer wants to promote Harrison because it's just too much hassle. Scott Harrison was promoted by Frank Warren in the past, and was said to still be under contract with him. So Frank Warren is going to pick up where the pair left off and represent Harrison again.
Scott Harrison Beats Mizsei Jr on his return to the ring, stopping him in round 4. Harrison looked impressive beings that he has been out of action for over 6 years. Watch what Scott Harrison had to say on his comeback win in this Interview filmed after the fight.
Klitschko Destroys Mormeck In 4 Rounds
Klitschko Destroys Mormeck In 4 Rounds
An easy nights work for Wladimir. The size, the skill, the power, all too much for Mormeck to deal with. Mormeck was completely nullified, everything he tried was no good. Mormeck tried to get inside to land punches but Wladimir just tied him up and leaned on Mormeck's neck with all his weight, tiring Mormeck out. The end came with a nice one-two combination, followed by a short hook that folded Mormeck to the canvas. He was also down in the second round from similar shots but managed to survive.
Wladimir was not messing about in this fight. He did not try and carry Mormeck for a few rounds, he just went for the kill as soon as the opportunity presented itself. The size difference, complete with the superb boxing skills of Wladimir were far too great for a 39 year old Mormeck to contend with. Mormeck now becomes the 50th knockout of Wladimir's boxing career.
Who's next? Who's left?

Wladimir Klitschko Vs Mormeck Weigh-In
The Wladimir - Mormeck fight has been widely frowned upon. Everyone thinks it's a miss-match. Mormeck's reputation has been tarnished massively after losing to David Haye by knockout. People now just see him as the guy Haye knocked out. Truth is, Mormeck knocked Haye down and was in control early in the fight, it was no walk in the park for David Haye. So he should not be completely written off.
Since losing to Haye, Mormeck has won his last 3 fights. Fair enough, they were against mediocre opponents but this would have given him a much needed confidence boost now that he's facing Wladimir Klitschko. The word is, Mormeck has been mimicking the Mike Tyson style in training for this fight and will be coming forward with a bobbing and weaving style, the very style that both Klitschko's can have trouble with if the style is used correctly. Mormeck has been training like this for many months.
No matter what people think of Mormeck, he's going to give it a go. But at 39 years old he's well past his prime. He will be dangerous for a few rounds and maybe he might have a chance of catching Wladimir cold if he pushes the action from the first bell and rushes Wladimir, not giving him a chance to set his feet and control the distance and pace of the fight.
Should be interesting for the first five rounds but after that it's all Wladimir.

Povetkin Beats Marco Huck
Povetkin Beats Marco Huck
Alexander Povetkin retains his "regular" WBA Heavyweight title with a tight points win over Marco Huck. Surprisingly, Huck pushed Povetkin to the absolute limit and at times had Povetkin wondering what planet he was on, landing powerful single shots while Povetkin was bending forward with his head looking at the canvas. Marco Huck's punches were thrown wide and his boxing was wild. Similar to a bar room brawl at times, and he was fighting very dirty. He was basically fouling in most of the rounds by holding Povetkins head down and hitting him behind the head. Shockingly, the referee never even took a point, or even made much of a fuss about it.
Both fighters left everything in the ring. Povetkin was completely gassed out, early on too, which was unexpected beings as he's used to fighting much bigger and heavier fighters. This was probably due to Huck making Povetkin fight out of his comfort zone. This was a very physical fight and it did not matter how fit both were, they were going to be exhausted fighting at that kind of pace.
Excellent fight and a superb effort by Huck, but the cleaner work came from Povetkin and the decision resembled that. This was the toughest fight of Povetkin's career no doubt. Povetkin was glad to hear the final bell and had to be held up and then put on to a stool to rest. Super tired! He came very close to losing his title. I think Povetkin was shocked at the power of Huck as well, which he carried up to heavyweight nicely. Huck could mix at heavyweight, although his boxing skills need some more work.

Povetkin Vs Marco Huck Weigh-In
Alexander Povetkin Vs Marco Huck Weigh-In
Marco Huck weighed in at 95 KG, which is considerably heavier then he's ever weighed when in "fighting shape". Obviously because he's never fought as heavyweight before, but this means his body is not used to carrying this extra weight (around 5 KG) and the chances are he will tire badly late in the fight. Many people thought he might come in just slightly heavier then the cruiser weight limit, maybe around 91 - 92 KG, but that's not the case. It should be an all action fight. Don't miss it. lol @ the long handshake like they were gonna start squeezing each others hand. Povetkin weighed in @ 104 KG.

Marco Huck Vs Alexander Povetkin
Marco Huck Vs Alexander Povetkin
Marco Huck, the WBO Cruiser Weight Champion, is moving up to the heavyweight division to take on Alexander Povetkin for the fake WBA title. I say fake because the real WBA title is held by Wladimir Klitschko. The "Fake" WBA belt is what the organisation is calling it's "regular" champion, and the real WBA belt holder is classed as the "Super" champion..Where's the sense in that? - Good question.
With all that said, and forgetting about what title is on the line, this is a very good fight. Marco Huck is jumping straight up to Heavyweight and taking on one of best fighters in the division. This is a very risky thing to do. Marco Huck should of had one or two fights at heavyweight against mediocre opposition. If he was taking on any other world class Heavyweight, himself, his trainers, and everyone involved would know full well that a few warm up fights would be part of the process.
The reason Huck is jumping straight into the deep end with this fight is because Huck and Povetkin have history. The pair used to spar together and Marco Huck has said that he used to school Povetkin. If this is true, and Marco Huck used to get the upper hand in sparring, will it really matter now? This sparring took place at least a few years ago and Povetkin has improved immensely over the last year or two. And we don't actually know if Povetkin was taking it easy on Huck, holding back on the power, or even working on certain moves while sparring. Are these sparring sessions giving Huck a false sense of security? Most probably yes.
If Huck can't get an early night knockout he will feel the weight difference between fighting a Cruiser Weight and fighting a natural Heavyweight as the fight goes into the later rounds. Has he prepared for this, or will his stamina cost him the fight. We will see on Saturday night.
Povetkin has good boxing skills, good power, and good stamina for a Heavyweight. Huck has good power and much faster hands..Marco Huck will start off really fast and sharp, and Povetkin will bide his time for a few rounds until Huck tires, then Povetkin will, or should, take over this fight. Povetkin has a good engine, he gets stronger as the fight goes into the later rounds, where as Huck, by that time, should be feeling the pace from facing the naturally heavier man.
Marco Huck could be catching Povetkin at a vulnerable time. Povetkins Trainer, Teddy Atlas has not been in Russia for the training camp because of other commitments. So Povetkin has had to train without his main man. We will have to wait and see whether this has a negative effect on Povetkin's performance. Looking for the weigh-in? Click here.

Tyson Fury Vs Martin Rogan
Tyson Fury Vs Martin Rogan
This fight is being held at the Odyssey Arena on 14 April 2012.
Although this fight will be a great occassion in Belfast, it's not really the fight people want to see. Everyone wanted Tyson Fury Vs David Price but it's never going to happen. In a few Tyson Fury interviews he stated that Martin Rogan was of no use to him inside a boxing ring because he was too old and too slow. Fury was convinced Rogan was just looking for his last big pay day. Now, Fury has totally changed his tune, stating that Rogan's a good fighter who comes to fight and will be a tough test.
Tyson Fury has said that fighting David Price makes no sense because Price isn't rated very high in the world rankings yet. So where is Martin Rogan rated then? He's nowhere to be seen. The only excuse for Tyson Fury not stepping up in class is that he has only had 17 fights, so is still quite inexperienced as a professional. But then again so is Dereck Chisora and he's just give Vitali Klitschko a run for his money.
This fight will be boring and is a step backwards for Fury. But I guess it's more about the dollars. Martin Rogan will be dangerous for a few rounds but after that this fight will be a hold and hug love affair. Martin Rogan's no spring chicken now at 40 years old, and add to that, his last fight was in 2010 against Werner Kreiskott (8-14-1) and that fight went to a points win for Rogan.
This is a good opportunity for Rogan. I hope he's still got one huge fight left inside himself, and he gives Fury his hardest fight to date.

David Haye And Dereck Chisora Fight
Bad words have been getting exchanged for quite a while between David Haye and Dereck Chisora. But when David Haye turned up at the post press conference after Chisora's loss to Vitali Klitschko things got a bit out of hand. Needless to say, we could be seeing a fight between David Haye and Dereck Chisora in the near future. This is good publicity if the pair do end up fighting, but this is not good for boxing as a sport. See pictures of the Haye - Chisora brawl. These two are not good role models for boxing - If you want real role models look at the Klitschko brothers. Both have showed superb self control through out this whole fight process, the build up, the fight, and post fight.
